I was helping a friend over the weekend to clear his land and checking on the feeders. There were a ton of mosquitos! I was using the repellent and I had that smell on my nostrils until like the next day soap .

Question is: Do you use some type of repellent when you're hunting?

I ask because if mosquitoes and humans don't like the smell, I'm sure that whatever animal you're hunting won't like the smell either.

Thermacell doesn't work well if you are walking around or if breezy. It doesn't protect against chiggers or ticks either. I like the spray powder version...http://www.amazon.com/Johnson-Inc-71764-Aerosol-Repellent/dp/B004XLEHFQ

I am a Thermacell fan. I just discovered that HEB carries them.

Cedar Bug Spray , I bought some of this a couple years ago at the Texas Hunters Show. It smells like cedar. It does not scare away deer at all. I have had deer within 10 yards in a chair-blind and none blew on me. I spray very little on my hat and on my boots. Have not had a tick on mr since using and it keeps Mosquitos/Biting Flies away plus it acts as cover scent. All of those are good things for a hunter.

I also spray a little on my hands before cleaning hogs to keep ticks and fleas off.

It is a little expensive but a little goes a long way. I bought 3 about 8 months ago and still have a little left.

In Junction this time of year mosquitoes are there but the real culprit is the white gnats. Without protection they will eat you alive all day long. I use Repel spray. About as good as it gets.
