Finally got my new 6.5 Creedmoor together. I did some load development yesterday and it is shooting 1/2 inch at 100 yards with a couple loads but none shot 1 hole. Could be me, but I have shot 1 hole groups before.
I'm shooting a brand new CBI barrel, only 50 rounds down it, will the groups tighten up after firing more rounds? Or should I tune my loads OAL or powder charge a bit?
Shooting the 140 Amaxs over H4350.

Clean?
I'd put a few more down it to see where it is. Most will definitely speed up and some will settle more in accuracy as well.

This is my first new aftermarket barrel so I didn't know if it needs a lot of rounds fired through it before it settles in accuracy wise.

Don't clean it anymore.
Seat the bullet even with the lands (as long as it still fits in the mag) , start at 41.5 gr of H-4350 and work up in .3 increments to 43.0 gr. It'll shoot somewhere around 42.0 but check them all. Once you find the powder charge thay does the best THEN play with jumping the bullet. A-maxes are not known to be sensitive to the jump but you can test it if you like. Testing all this 200 yards to 500 yards will tell you more. Testig at 100 may have you measuring groups in thousandths instead of 1/16" or 1/8". For really good barrels 300 yards can be hard to read. 500 is better provided you don't have a ton of wind.
Oh and a routienly shooting 1/2" rifle is not a problem at all. In fact that's really good, and "single holes" are not super common.

3 or 5 shot groups? Nothing wrong at all about a 1/2" 5 shot group. Foul it up and keep shooting, see if it tightens up some before you play too much
