With the motor on high spin and a fully charged battery's, mine easily throw 12 to 15 feet in all directions. When I first started using these vault so, we messed up a couple by screwing around with the plate. With no feed in the barrel, adjust the plate to the spout and then go up about 3/16". This will keep the weight of the feed fr pushing down on the plate and having a gap. When you fill the feeder you can make adjustments if needed. Last thing I would say is make sure no big boar can reach your feeder motor from the ground. I put fence posts on each leg and wire them together. I set mine up where I can backup my truck or UTV to fill the feeders with ease. Having the motors up and out of the way (and no cage on it), helps to keep your bucks from hitting their antlers on them.
