Building a hog trap this weekend its a corral trap any tips on what to bait it with or how to bait it? I was just planning on putting some corn and some hog heaven powder in it.

I don't think there's any magic hog potion. If hogs are in the area, they'll eventually find your bait whatever it is. I just use plain old corn because it's simple and seems to work as well as anything.

Had suggested this in different thread.. Not sure how big your corral is, put corn feeder on timer were it will throw corn at farthest end of gate... Hogs some times hear the dinner bell... Theirs thread bout baiting hogs in here with reciepies... Ignore that idiot colt.45 rumor has it he's used ta hunt hogs at night with a pistal.. Now he huntsolo ... Edit: Baiting Hogs by HogMan1

You can try all of the crazy concoctions you want, if you have hogs they will come.

Just plain corn or soured corn (fill bucket 3/4 with corn, rest with water. Cover and let sit in sun for a week or 2). Make sure you dont get it on your hands though
Also, I highly recommend a vertical trip wire as opposed to horizontal. IME, a lot less false trips, and better for catching multiple pigs at once.
Wouldnt waste your money on all that store bought hog attractant.
If it's a new area, I would use the sour corn to help them find it quicker, and just plain corn after that.
I always put a bunch of corn in the trap before I leave the lease so they get comfortable coming into the trap (dont forget to wire your doors open when you arent able to check them though. Will take the fun out of it Real quick when you come back 2 weeks later and have a trap full of dead pigs)

Whoops, disregard the vertical trip and wiring the door open comment. Just saw you were using a corral trap

Tried all sorts of things, save your money & your time. Use regular plain old corn and feed on a regular basis with the door tied open. The bigger the door the better. Feed, feed. Then when you are ready to set the trap set it. Been trapping pigs for a long time and can't remember the last time I spent money on pig out, hog wild, molasses, jello, cool aid, beer, yeast, yada yada. Plain corn on a regular basis works better than anything I've found. Don't get discouraged if you set the trap & don't catch any. Keep feeding and leave as little scent as possible near the trap. It makes a difference.

U headen back this weekend ta try again? Sound of a feeder can work just as good as smell of soured corn, wind has ta be blowing in right direction... Have had more luck with feeder, tried a mollases drip. While checking cam's, no gun, left deer food plot, corn feeders, & walked twards bow stand, hog's were bedded edge of trees about 10yrds from the mollases drip... lots of pic's on cams going from plain corn feeder ta the other corn feeder... Keep us updated, best wishes...
