Went up to my camp this afternoon and at about 7pm this coon showed up at the feed pile. I took a bead on him and was just about to squeeze the trigger when I here the distinctive shuffling gait of a porcupine off to my left. I hold off on the coon and figure mr porko will be joining him at the pile. Once porky is settled in I take a new bead on mr coon's head with porky 3 yards to the left.
I squeeze off and the coon drops on the spot and the porky takes off as fast as his legs will go. It a futile attempt as he only makes it 3 yards before he takes a load of #6 turkey. We have an infestation of porcupines this year - he is the 4th in a week. On the brighter side the coon is the first one I have seen since last november.
