Curious what trailer members here use for their Polaris Crew. I have a pipe top 12' that it barely fits on. Thinking of going to a 14' tandem, but the inspection has me leaning towards the single axle 14 footer as well as the ease of moving it around by hand in my yard. Anyone had issues towing with the single axle and wish they had the tandem?

I prefer a 16' tandem to haul my Ranger around in. Even though it is overkill, I can use the trailer to haul other larger/longer things when needed. I want extra tires on the ground if or when I have a blowout.

Tandem is nice for the oh oops issues cause by texas summers. You can always ratchet an axle up and keep doing down the road.

But what ever you buy, note you will need new tires with in a year.

If you can find one with torsion axles I'd roll that way over spring

I think the inspection requirement only applies to the gross weight doesn't it?

I purchased the single axle 14'. The extra length is not enough to carry anything beyond the Ranger crew except possibly a large cooler. The added length rear of the single axle is constantly dragging when crossing uneven ground. If I had it to do over I would go with a tandem axle and probably go with the 16' rather than 14'.

I use my Ranch King 12' tandem - it fits (barely) and that's all I needed. Would the extra room be nice? Sure! But, I bought it before I had the Polaris and was just glad it fit! Tandem is nice if you ever have a blowout!

I judge trailer decisions based on how much weight I'm hauling. A 12' single axle will have a 3,500lb axle. Trailer itself probably weighs ~1,000lb give or take. That means your actual capacity is more like 2,500lb. Rule of thumb for trailers says load them at ~85% and you'll avoid problems (blown tires, etc). So, you're looking at 2,125 lbs realistically.

Polaris crew 800 weighs in at 1,500lbs dry. Wet weight is probably closer to 1,700 lbs. So, that means with a single-axle your now looking at 2,125 - 1,700=425 lb additional capacity. You can get away with a couple coolers, but you're not going to throw 1k lbs of feed on in addition to the Ranger. If you want to that better step up to a tandem.
I like my 12' single axle for most trips but every now and then I'll hook up the 16' tandem if it's a heavier load.

If I had a big UTV like a Ranger Crew I'd probably go with a 16'tandem. Sure is nice to be able to throw other stuff on the trailer.

14' has done me good, Like mentioned above..Plan on "real" tires being put on after you buy a new one...I like being able to move around by hand.

I have a 2008 Ranger (non-crew) and have the same basic trailer as Sniper, except mine is angle iron instead of pipe rails. I have been using it all the time to haul my ranger and another good point is after I disconnect from the truck I find that I haul the trailer all the time with the ranger at home and the ranch it is much easier than a tandem axle would be and definatly easier than my 16' trailer. If you ever decide to get a bigger unit (ranger) a 12' single is easy to sell. A 14 is too big for most stuff and not big enough for other stuff. Just my thoughts.

If you go with single axle be sure to buy a spare tire & wheel, carry a jack that will fit under the axle with a flat tire and a lug nut wrench that fits the trailer lug nuts.

I have the exact same trailer and purchasing it was almost better than the Ranger itself. I have other trailers to do the heavy jobs but not being "over" trailered hauling it to the lease or west texas has been awesome. I think you would be happy with it.

Wouldn't leave home without it.



Those items stay in my truck 24/7. I've changed more tires for other people on the side of the road than I care to remember.


I'm sticking with the single axle trailer I have now. I'm in it way too cheap to go buy a tandem I know I'll end up hating.

I love my 16ft. I can even fit a 4 wheeler on the back facing sideways which has saved me before.

After pulling with single axle, tandum is so much better!

I use a 16 tandem... just because my other option is 10 foot single axle, and it won't fit on that one. Gotta use what I have.

I had a 10ft single axle. It fit, backwards, but the idea of going down the road with that thing and a tire blowing out was too much... so I sold it and got a 12ft dual axle and I do not regret it a single bit. Fits perfectly fine with a little room for a cooler on the end, under the back of the Ranger.

Also nice to haul other stuff.

I just picked up & delivered a new 6x16 angle top tandem axle with rear ramp gate with used tires including a spare from Texas Trailer Supply out the door was $1527.00 including TTL. Although it has tandem 3500# axles, the rating on both the VIN plate and title have it rated for 3999 pounds which should not have to go thru the inspection process OR have brakes. but ... I had a 6x12 single axle ramp gate that a friend made to haul my Kubota RTV with. It had a 3500# axle but the trailer frame was not heavy duty enough and flexed really bad going down the road to the point I was overly leary of continuing to use it. I bought a 6'6x16 pipe top tandem axle and it pulls like a charm going down the road but its a bit bulky to try to hand move or even pull behind the RTV. I bought a 5x10 tilt single axle but its about 2 inches to narrow as it measures 4'10" inside but is great around the house and pulling behind the RTV. Sooooo ... I have been watching for a 6x12 or 6x14 ramp gate pipe top single axle for dedicating to hauling the RTV but as others have stated, I wouldn't want to put much more of a load on the trailer.

I have a single axle and it does help at the lease to be able to move it by hand. I typically put my coolers in the bed of the truck so thats not an issue for me.

Haul mine on the same 16' tandem I have used for years (pre Ranger). Plenty of room for coolers gas cans etc.
