Would there be much demand for the 6mm Creedmoor in an Ar-10 (LR-308) platform? We are expanding our AR-10 line of barrels. Any reason why the round wouldn't work as well?

Specs would be:

DPMS Pattern
22" (Maybe)
1:8"
Rifle Length Gas
Medium HBAR contour

Thanks!

I might be. Who's making your barrels?

Would be pretty cool, for sure. I would want the twist to stabilize 105's and up.

If you could get reliable feeding with the 105 BergerHybrids then it should be a seller.
My 6.5 CM does great with 123gr but I have had issues with feeding the longer 140 gr.
I have read that is not uncommon so that may need exploring

8 Twist should stabilize the 105gr Hybrid which is the best 6mm out there.

7mm I might be interested still but really need to get my 6mm Creedmoor bolt gun done first. Are these going to be just a limited run or a stocking item?

I think I'll pass so I can burn the first barrel myself.

I think 6 Creedmoor would be a good move, and 8 twist is a good call.

Yup. And the 105 hybrid, dee mentioned, will help gain some velocity back due to the gas gun tax.

I know 2 guys who run a 6mm Creemoor in an AR, and both say the accuracy is decent, and they were not too excited about them in an AR.

We'll see. Our 7mm-08 and 6.5 Creedmoor run sold out already and we've seen a good demand for the product. We may order just one and if it sells quick, slowly build up enough inventory to have a regular stock.

So overall they thought it was mediocre?

Correct. They were much more finicky than the bolt guns.

If ammo was available on the shelf then I would have went 6CM instead of 6.5CM

Not only availability, but cost as well. Bulk .223 / 5.56 is still cheap even after the whole atf scare.

Different platform all together plus completely different end goal.

I am not impressed by the 6mm creedmoor in general. After this 6creed barrel wears out, I will be moving back to 6.5x47.

I know multiple shooters that run a 6mm CM on a bolt gun for hunting and competition, and love it. It shoots very good. A 105 Hybrid at 3050 to 3100 fps is a fast, flat shooting and wind bucking round. If you're a 6mm fan (which I'm not), it would be a good round. I like more mass than a 105.

With .223 being the same size and cheaper and 6.5CM being the same price and better, I don't see much of a market. JMHO

I know two guys that own gas AR 6.5CM and the accuracy is outstanding. Both rifles were built by Andrew Brady from Lone Star Armory.

Here are a couple of thousand yard groups that Tye shot from his rifle.

Another 5 shot group

This is a 700 yard group that was fired from Wes's rifle at 700 yards. I witnessed Jeremy Moore from Shooter's Source shoot this group.

one of the challenges is brass; gas guns are a little harder on brass and you tend to lose more. with .223 it's no big deal since it's so cheap, with a 6 creed it would be a factor that i would consider and would sway me from getting that caliber in a gas gun. but i hate gas guns and my opinion doesn't matter.
