Warning-
Booked a blackbuck hunt with Ryan Pannell to hunt on a ranch he has a contract on in Uvalde.
Sent him the $750 deposit as he requested 1.5 months before the hunt. Ryan is a smooth talker and has the lingo down and seemed like nice guy.
He never sent me a receipt or info on the ranch location supposedly put it in the mail two different times (map, release, and gate code). I ask him for to email, fax, or even take a picture of the paperwork. He never produced anything for me to believe there was an actual hunt planned.
When I asked for a refund of my deposit he turned on me and it got ugly.

He lives outside Austin and works for a gas company.
Wont answer his phone or respond to text.
I did talk to the courts in Williamson County and I have to pay another $120 to have him served.

My wife and I were extremly excited about the weekend getaway and the blackbuck, hog, and turkey hunt.
Ryan lied again again to string us along until the week before the hunt.

Maybe he must have really needed the money to support his new Baby.
But geez to steal $750 from a fellow is downright crappy.

If anybody knows this guy or has information that may help me recoup my $750 please PM me.

You may want to look into a private process server, they may be cheaper. The other thing is pay the 120 then when you go to court ask for the 120 to be included in the fees with the 750 he ows you if you win.

Keep copies of all e mails, text, call logs, letters, web page ads, craiglist ads etc in your conversations with him.

Good luck. You may want to talk to local DA PD or Sheriff office to see if they would purse charges on theft, theft by fraud etc.

Is this the outfit? If so, please leave feedback on his page and give him one star. I always google a person and their outfit to see what others say about him and FB is usually the first one to pop up on my searches.

That is his personal facebook page but looks like he abandoned the Double drop hunts page.

He thinks he got away with shanghi'ing my money, but its not over yet for sure.

I'm confused. Why are you having to go after him in civil court? Seems like a theft. With that stated do you not have proof you paid the 750? Sounds like a Class A Misdemeanor

Yes I have a copy of the cashed check with black buck hunt written in the memo line.
I also have his text confirming his receipt of the deposit.

I would print copy of text along with copy of cashed check and see if local pd or sheriff will run with it. Good luck.

It's been many years, but when I had similar problems, I was sent to the Justice of the Peace. I wrote out a statement he then wrote out the warrant.

might be a bit different in some areas of the State, I am by no means saying they are wrong and we are right or vice versa. One thing we might ask is that a certified letter be sent to the guy then await either he pays back the money owed or a warrant is issued. Thought this is a Class A, might still be worth it if he has prior convictions for theft, then bump him of to a SJF, best of luck.

Here's my point the police might think it's a civil situation and not submit it to the Justice of the Peace who's job it is to make the determination. If you go directly to the JP with your evidence he'll make an immediate determination. Once a warrant is issued the police have to act.

I would also post a review for that ranch on Texas Outfitters Network. I checked the listings and don't see it.
You can add it here - http://texasoutfittersnetwork.com/index.php/submit-listing - then submit a review.
Help others avoid this guy.

Called to Williamson County Sheriff Dept and they already knew of him.
He was arrested and charged with Felony CC fraud.
Sent the evidence to the investigator and he issued another warrant for his arrest for stealing my money.

Kind of feel bad for the guy young, young wife, newborn baby and didnt want to have to go this route on him.
All I wanted was my money back, and nothing more.

I low it didn't get you your money back, but you did the right thing. Don't feel bad, he put himself in that position not you.
