Does anyone use an inexpensive tablet to view pics in the field? I've considered getting one for that purpose. Don't want to spend a lot just want reliability. Probably will let my daughter use it at the house.

A cheap laptop from Best Buy is a better choice. Uses USB cable. Don't have to pull card. A Covert 3G is better still.

I just pull the SD card and replace with a different one. If you have a digital camera, you can use it to view the pics in the field. I just take mine to the house to view them on my computer. I have used a Lap Top at times. You can probably get a cheap Lap Top at any Pawn Shop, might be a bit dated but cheap none the less.

I use this tablet. You can use the SD(micro) card reader and it can be a USB host so both ways work. Battery life could be better but you charge it with it's charger or a usbmicro cable. I wish it had bluetooth but for $50 I can't complain.

Yes, you would need an adapter. I use SD micro cards in SD adapters so I just pull the cards. If you want to use the USB to get the pictures you need a special cable like this one.

I have a garmin gps I carry with me to get gps coordinates (older one) but it also has a sd card slot for picture viewing. That's what I use because it also allows me to take it out of the truck like a tablet but fits in my pocket.

You can try to look for one of those older "convertible laptops" that are both a laptop and a tablet. Used can't be more than $150 or so.

I use an old original iPad with a card reader. You can pick them up for almost nothing.

To view my pics of all the cows on my SD card I bought an adapter to use with my old iPad. It was $10 at Discount Electronics here in Austin. The only thing I don't like about the setup is you have to download the pictures before viewing, it slows things down a bit but it's faster than waiting until I get home on the computer.

I use iPad if I just have to know, but my kid has this Fire HD tablet that will get put to use. He'll have to show me how to use it since he hacked our PW and got into our Amazon acct on it.

I carry extra SD cards then put them in once I pick up the old cards. Then I take the old cards back to the house and put them in my macbook or if you have a newer television there should be a spot to put it in there. That's the best way for me to do it because I don't like driving the truck up close to the bear baits and carrying a laptop or tablet back there would just get annoying and cumbersome.

tablets are slow to process the photos... best thing is a laptop. I just grab the card, replace the camera with a different card. they're cheap enough you can have 2 cards per camera. in and out fast so you don't have to stand there at your camera location waiting for the photos to download.
