This is probably old info to most but it was an awesome moment for me (ok I maybe a little too melodramatic here).

I'm just starting to explore reloading and got my first stuck case. So I found this video.

This technique worked like a charm. Just $16 at Ace and now I have a permanent, low cost way of removing stuck brass from a case. It was even easier than I thought it would be. Hopefully I'll never have to send in a die in the future.

I didn't know how to do that. I have a piece of 222 brass stuck in a die. I expect that I'll try that trick. BTW, take a look at the walls of the die to assure that they aren't damaged.

I peeped into the inner wall of the die and looks fine to my layman's eye. I didn't see any scratches or dents or anything. Besides, all the drilling and tapping and happens inside the case.

I use a drill/tap then a bolt attached to a slide hammer.

I got a case stuck about a year ago that was sprayed with this http://www.hornady.com/store/One-Shot-Spray-Case-Lube/ will never use it again.

I had to order a stuck case remover in order to get it out. Thanks for sharing the video. up

There are two kinds of reloaders: those that HAVE stuck a case, and those that ARE GOING TO!

I doesn't matter what kind of lube you use, occasionally you will make an error with it, or some unnoticed dirt/grime gets into the process and the result is a stuck case. Learning how to fix it (as you did) is the key to moving on and continuing to reload.
And it gives you a feeling of accomplishment that you fixed it.

Keep your dies and cases clean and lubed and you will have fewer stuck cases. Maybe you will be lucky and never have another, but don't count on it.

Thanks for sharing!

Mark me in the haven't stuck a case...yet column.
Thanks for sharing this removal technique.
It's good to have a plan.

that is an old machinist trick, works great for stuck case removal.

Luckily I have only had 1 stuck case since I started in late 60's.

Have been using the Hornady One Shot for years - it works if you read and follow the instructions but I also run the brass thru the tumbler before it hits the dies so it's smooth, shiny and clean.

If I don't tumble it first, the stroke is a lot harder both ways.

Tumble first, then mink oil on the outside, Motor Mica inside the case neck.

Since I started doing it like this, I've not come close to sticking a case.

I had a bad round of stuck cases with Hornady a while back. Turns out I was not shaking the can enough before and during use. The components can apparently settle out in the can. You can spray all the lube from the bottom of the can and leave the lighter carrier (alcohol ?) in the top. Once you get down to the carrier only, you will get very good at removing stuck cases.. realmad

Hornady One-Shot-Case Lube in my book is the only way to go!! Made A board with 160 holes in it & spray the cases with the One Shot Lube & go to resizing. Takes 10 seconds to spray & can go off & come back & resize if need to. I have resized in excess of 10,000 223/556ilke this & have never stuck A case in the die.

Just my 2 cents

only stuck a handful of case over the years, likely because i rarely full size anything, just stuff going thru the AR, so all my stuck cases have been 223, always frustrating when it happens. thanks for the link.

Just stuck my first .223 and it was painful to remove, even with this method.

I just finished sizing 1000 .308 cases over several days (LC 12 and they were definitely machine gun fired ). Used Mobil 1 instead of Imperial since it felt like a little less effort. Got a few minor dents since I "generously" lubed but not a single stuck case. Now.... my arms feel like they are going to fall off....I still have to trim and swage ..... What are rainy days for...

I don't make proclamations that this method is the best or painless, but it's most certainly cost effective versus sending dies in.
