Have had a Schrade tough tool for years that was mostly used to dispatch red wasps and scorpions that ended up in the house. Ended up with a Gerber randomly but it wiggles a lot and seems kinda non user friendly. Received a Leatherman MUT for being the best man at my brothers wedding. The MUT is awesome but not the most practical for me as an everyday carry. Yesterday I picked up the last in stock Leatherman New Wave with nylon sheath on clearance for 9.99, 10.81 after tax grin Wonder if that is around cost? The size and tools make it look like it will be the most useful for everyday use. What are your favorites and how often are they used?

I have a Leatherman tool, made in Portland, Oregon. I have had it for about 18 years, use it all the time.

I'm a Gerber man myself. Had one since they started making them. Standard issue to new mechanics at the Fort Worth water department.

I have one of the old Gerber tools also. It has wider jaws on the pliers.

I own the Gerber and the Leatherman tools.

I usually carry the Gerber. It seems to be a tougher tool.

They are both quite good quality tools

Leatherman. For a few years they made one with a corkscrew. That made it the one I had to have.

Swiss Army makes the best one IMO if you can find them. Also, have a Letterman and Gerber which are ok.

I'll take that Gerber off your hands if you are so inclined smile I like them simply for the fact you can operate them one handed.

I do like the quick deployment of the Gerber and Schrade. They just do not feel as sturdy as the leatherman, course the prices are a bit higher leatherman. I need to look into the Swiss tools as I have only seen online pictures and everyone seems to hold them in high regards.

Leatherman wave with pocket clip, literally helped save my family after a roll over accident.

I hate to sound like a smart #s#.. but I've never had a need for one. laugh I'm a knife maker and I carry a two inch Barlow knife that is over 30 years old..

I did get my two boys a Gerber 10 or 15 years ago (I forget I'm old) and they still have them and use them and it was just a few months ago they bragged about how much they liked them and have held up well.

I was a construction hand for 17 years and always carried a Gerber. They are IMO the best multi-tool for the average Joe.

Gerber.. I have one in my bunker gear at work and one in my bunker gear at the fire station at home. My dad always carried a leatherman, but after I bought him a Gerber, he never touched the leatherman again.

I have had a couple of Leatherman Super Tools (is that right?) in multiple places. And have yet to break one. I would rather have a regular plier jaws than needlenose, though.

I carry a little Leatherman Micra in my pocket every single day and I'm regularly amazed at how often I use it!

My favorite is the Leatherman that they used to make that had a corkscrew. Had to have that when I was taking customers hunting. Steaks with a little wine sure makes the evenings better. So many places I went had no corkscrew. Who'd a thunk it?
