I keep hearing about the youth hunting program, and other Texas Parks and Wild Life public land and drawn hunts. I was to late to get in on the 2014 -2015 season. When will the information and the opportunity to get into these programs be available for 2015-2016. I would like to get My 12 year old Son involved if any are close enough to us.

Thank You
Robert

welcome ta THF. Been hunting WMA public land since they opened up one down the road aways. Permit is $48.00, permit ends 08-31-15.. They send a booklet for draw hunts, youth hunts, gives dates & other info, not sure whin they send it, next month or two.. Check out the public hunting form section. Sniper John & few other moderators in that section can give more detail info.. Best wishes. Edit: jeh7mmmag flag

Since everything went on-line this past year, TPWD will no longer send out these booklets. All applications are done on-line now. You usually can start applying around the end of July, if not a little earlier. The only booklet you get now is for the $48 permit, which are the maps of all the public hunting grounds that are not done by special drawings.

Thanks for the information guys, I signed up as a volunteer with the Texas Youth Hunting Program today, and contacted the guy who runs it. Hope we can find some hunts close to home. This guy is planning a Prong Horn Hunt for early October, I may be doing some cooking for them since I can not do the walking required to do the hunt.

Thank You
Robert
