I made my own gun show yesterday as I didn't want to drive to the one in Fort Worth. Went to the local gun shops. One of them had this early Colt AR-15 A2 Sporter 2 (model 6400) that has been in the shop a while. It was on consignment. The buyer originally had it marked $1800 and had been coming down each time I went in. Last week it was $1200 and this week I had a mind to offer $1000 for it. I didn't have to offer as he had come in before me and dropped the price to $999.

It was made in 1985, an early Sporter 2, a transition model between the SP 1 and SP 2. This one has A1 sights but a 20" government profile 1/7 barrel, slab sided top and bottom with no forward assist. No sear block. Evil bayonet lug. Looks to be in pretty nice shape for a 30 year old AR...haven't cleaned it yet - will fix that super dry carrier when I do.

Earl

Nice! Those will take some serious abuse and keep on going, just make sure you run good mags.
