I believe that's where stxranchman is, but he knows almost nothing about deer or deer hunting.

Which part of the county? Game? Deer, turkey, quail in huntable numbers, dove and tons of stinking hogs. Quality and numbers will depend on where you are hunting in the county.

I hunt not to far from there in George West. The numbers are not a s good as the hill country but comparable. The quality of deer is much better than the hill country deer. Just using hill country as a comparison don't know where you hunted before. Of course you most likely will have pigs and javelina for sure. Coyotes are not rare, lots of doves, turkey, and occasional bobcat.

Met a guy who lives out of state who has some land "near Goliad off 239" who might consider leasing me his land for hunting, provided I do some favors for him. He has never hunted the property, but just told me there are "deer on the property" and he has seen "plenty of hogs". Neighbors have cultivation, he doesn't - pretty much fallow for years. That's all I know. Could be a bust, just a lot of work - could be a real gem.

Which direction from Goliad on 239? NW or SE of town could make a huge difference in numbers of deer and quality. Also is it close to the river or away from it?

About 45 min drive. When I get through Goliad/Beeville I know I got the trip whipped. But your right its not the same area but shouldn't too much difference in general.

Goliad to Beeville is about 27-28 miles. GW is around 24 miles or so. The amount and size of deer varies greatly in the county though.

He is the guy to see though if you have questions about jackrabbits or caracaras

Indeed, and they don't call him, "Mr Lesser Prairie Chicken of Goliad" for nothing.

Lots of pigs, plenty deer, plethora of turkeys, and even saw a peccary once. Plus the usual dove, quail and lots of mosquitoes.

A few of the better bucks I have seen over the past few years. Have had some TC pics of a few other also.
