custom, good luck on getting an answer. atn seems to have crawled in a hole and pulled the top over it.

it is not a warranty return if it never worked right to begin with and atn has outright lied to us about fixes/updates.

file with the fl. atty general for consumer fraud and get it rolling there, you will need it I think.

Where is the official site that ATN announces new firmware? If it's Facebook, I'm SOL, because I don't use it. However, I may start, so that I can voice my opinions there....

Customcutter don't waste your time on the FB page. They will just ban you and remove the post. I know first hand....fredbear and I both were banned for posting about a bad experience he had with his 3 x 12. I am 61 years old and participate in a lot of forums and FP pages. In all the years I have been using social media I have never been banned.....I always try to post facts and just give constructive criticism feedback.

Even though I got rid of my x sight on the 30th day of my return window I still tried to help people with questions and how to's.....

I now own another brand of night vision and couldn't be happier.

Good Luck

I took my 5-18 out to the range after going back from .288 to .266 and put it through its paces. It did quite well. I took a few still pics and a bit of video, and those functions continue to work, although I did not try the audio on the video. Reticle stayed centered at all zoom levels; no fading or flickering; and no "lock up" like I had with .288. Finally, after the testing process, I decided to punish a plastic juice bottle full of water and record the results. (7.62X39 AR at 100 yards with Hornady 123 grain SST's) Then I dumped the mini-SD and extracted a few frames from the video to try to catch about when the bullet struck the bottle of water. All in all, a fun afternoon, and, as a day scope that takes pics and videos, my 5-18 at the .266 level is working fairly well. It is definitely still a work in progress, but while the ATN developers are "progressing," I'm going to use all the function I have available to me with this scope.

Nice to see there is stil some thread going as looked like all had died a death. Great picture of that bottle shot.

Was unhappy with my zero on my air rifle at -385 X and 142 Y so had a fiddle to see if it could be straightened on mount. Undid back and front screws and loosened centre screw pressured direction I reckoned it needed to go as it looked out on the rifle very slightly off to right loking from above, screwed back up tight checked line on rifle and it re-zeroed at -21 X. and 162 Y, significantly improved. Only marginnally moved from original assembly position by finger pressure when re-tightening but big difference in zero co-ordinates. Could probably shim Y out but not the issue -385 was on x co-ordinate.

Stayed with 288 and shot 12 rabbits in night vision with a T38 in 40 mins using my Weihaurch KT100. 5 following night in same horse paddock, now that empty horses moved to fresh field. All 20 to 45 yards, could see out to 80 comfortably in field. Can't video and shoot as although in 10x zoom when press record reticule goes to 5x position although still showing 10x and shots miss, presumably why 288 pulled.

Hopefull true 288 or whatever they call it will be released soon.

you may want to hold on to the streamlight 88704, look into the Sightmark Photon IR scope as an low cost alternative to the X-sight, It's not the best day scope but it's works very well for night time use.

If you decide to get one, you'll know right off the bat if you'll like it, if not you can return it, no promised software updates are coming for the sightmark.

Since 288 thread was locked. I think I should post here to inform those people who downloaded 288 and still try to use it for hunt.

The crosshair will move from your set xy position to x0y0 if you press recording. That means you will miss your target if you want record a video.

That is very interesting, and could certainly be a safety issue. Fortunately, I shimmed to zero.

Exactly what I decided with the auto-dimming. But that's just my opinion.

This is not the first time ATN has had this problem with their scopes. About 3 years ago, they had the same problem on their Thor scopes. They got it worked out, but given that it happened to them in the past, you would think that they would be sure not to let that happen again, LOL.

I gave my X-Sight to a friend. Well, I hope he will still be my friend. laugh

As stated over and over, the prototype did not have the dimming issue. I don't know, but I suspect that they instituted the auto dimming to try and handle the flicker issue. Who knows? They certainly don't appear to. If they did, you would not see all these "tested" firmware releases come out with new or unknown issues. Someone doesn't know how to run a proper QC department. If I were betting, I would say they have probably realized at this point internally that it may not be possible to deliver the scope with all the advertised features working, at the same time.

So, along the way, I had also picked up a Photon XT. It has always been much better at night than the X-Sight, but not during the day. Most folks buy these for hunting at night anyway. The Photon, if you can find one, is cheaper too. It is the best at this price range. I generally hunt all thermal these days, but I had the Photon out the other night just to look through it since it had been in the gun closet awhile. It reconfirmed that if I were going digital right now and couldn't step up to the higher end Pulsar, the Photon would still be my choice.

I switched back to the pulsar as well. I just wish ATN would drop all of the "Features" for a simple scope that works day/night and records all the other crap I can pass on.

here is the pulsar in action if anyone is interested. The flicker at the end is not the scope I jiggled the wire going to the DVR. I was holding the DVR while the wife took the shot.
