Picked up a 22-250 Rem 700 at a pawn shop, won't stabilize 62gr bullets. Thinking of re-barreling, any suggestions on a SA cartridge besides a 6.5 creedmoor? I just ordered a 6.5 CM don't think I need two.

How about just doing an 8 twist 22-250 with it and shooting 75 amax?

Kinda depends on what your goals with the rifle are but these come to mind. 22 or 6mm Creedmoor. 6mm-250 or maybe a 6xc.

Nah, I want something bigger than a .22.

Might consider 6CM or .243.

I have that model of rifle and finally got it to shoot well with 55 gr. soft point and H-380. I had considered rebarreling to the original 250-3000 in order to shoot a larger bullet. The selection of 25 cal bullets is somewhat limited if compared to 6 mm or 6.5. So I'm just going to keep it as a 22.

So you want something bigger than a gun you specifically bought? scratch

Exactly, bought because it was cheap, something to play with now I'm gonna play and rebarrel it.

What are your goals? If you already have the 6.5, what would you like the new cartridge to do? Do you have a .308?

What 62gr bullet won't stabilize in it and at what velocity?

Not much of a fan for a .308 I would have a 7-08 before .308. Goals? Haven't really gave it much thought for a specific goal.......I have several rifles and plan on having more. I'm sure I'll shoot a few pigs, yotes, deer, you know what you normally use a rifle for nothing exotic just the normal use.

The 7-08 is a great cartridge but it is very similar to the 6.5. I was just trying to suggest something that would put some room between itself and the 6.5

Still on the fence. Actually thinking of the suggestion Anton posted to go with the same caliber/cartridge with a 8 twist to run a 75gr. I don't have nothing similar to that and it would make sense to do it so my two boys can shoot it with confidence.

I'm building a 6 creed for the low recoil option.
