I have own opinion on this but what advice would you give to someone looking at property with a neighboring high fence...just one side

OR property with transmission lines running thru

Well, if you look at it in a positive way, A high fence neighbor will keep your deer from wondering over to their place.

Transmission lines are like permanent shooting lanes with mowing service.

There are transmission lines running through my neighbor's place. And I always see bucks running that space.

You're onto something.

We have both, except it's not a transmission line but several pipelines.
On the fence, it doesn't hinder us in any way. Don't even notice it unless we see a breeder buck on the other side!!!
Pipelines, are mowed at the end of summer and can make good food plots. Have several stands on these pipelines. Deer will cross them or come out and graze like cattle!!!

We have a high fence on one side built about 2 years ago that goes for about 1/2 mile. It didn't affect us. Only had one blind within 1/2 a mile of it. They run snares so that is a plus. The turkey fly over it. If our place had no cover then that would a different story. My buddy built a high fence on one side of his place due to the neighbors activities and improved the hunting.

Surely you remember the lovely pictures I took of the powerline pole with the blurry deer behind it.

scratch Are U the owner of the HF? Would the new neighbor be wrong for pudding their stand backed up to HF with shooting windows facing their property protecting the lowfer deer from jail brakers? rofl 2cents With todays high-tech hunting HF is way of setting boundrys for deer. Just like fencing for cattle.. Law showed up here few days after a hog hunt at WMA, not sure bout all details, officer said people run me off, discribed vechical. It was legal hunt, even stopped helped horses that got out on road. flag

Thats awesome, you only have to put of 3 fences now to have your place high fenced too! Congrats on a great score!

I think it depends on your property size, as to how much a HF will effect you.

So true. We have both, transmission lines on the west pasture, not visible from our view in camp. High fenced neighbors on one side, with 300" bucks on their place. It was a bummer at first, or so we thought. I saw more deer last year than in years past. They hit the fence and run down it, resulting in more sightings.

Just shoot everything you see and the other neighbors will finish fencing the other sides for you. Bang... you have a HF with nothing invested. grin

My uncle bought a small 100 acre place a few years ago. It is triangular, with one side an FM road, one side high-fenced and one low fence neighbor. Doesn't seem to hurt the hunting, and kind of creates a funnel between the HF and an open pasture. In 3 years, they've killed some nice deer for the hill country and always see a lot of deer. If you've got good cover and water, I'd think it'll be fine.

And where it is located. No way to answer the question without knowing the place. Could help it, kill it, or anything in between.

I would be more concerned about the other LF neighbors than the HF or powerline.

Right aways can be bad if you are close to border, you may just see a whole herd of illegals running that pipeline.

I remember listening to Erath grump and groan about the high fence going up next to him. I shared with him that it would probably end up benefiting him. I reminded him of the stories he used to tell about free range bucks going up to high fences to fight the bucks inside or try and get to the girlies (does).
