The first is of "Mr. Big" - a 12pt shot on a LF just outside of Lockhart. It was my buddy's 1st deer, ever! (good luck topping that one!) The buck was 6.5 years old and we'd been hunting him for the last 2 season. I just got a plaque made that will go on the cedar backing.

The second buck was my first droptine, taken in Carrizo Springs this last season. He was 4.5 years old...possibly 5.5

great mounts and gorgeous plaques! but if you were a real friend you wouldve slapped your buddy upside the head for not shoulder mounting that deer grin

If I had gotten him, I was planning on the shoulder mount...unfortunately, my buddy didn't have the money to do much...so I did the Euro for him.

cheers Hope you saved the cape and at least had it tanned. That way if he ever decides to get a shoulder mount done he will have it.

I've got friends that will only do euro's or caps because it's allows them to pick up the antlers when every they want. up

Great buck from Lockhart. I'd have saved up for a shoulder mount though. Great job George. up

I mentioned this on another tread the other day, but that area between Lockhart, San Marcos, Seguin, Gonzales, Luling and the surrounding area is a very unrecognized area. I grew up in San Marcos, and had a few buddies that owned family land along the San Marcos river near Staples and Fentress. They got some huge bucks out of that riverbottom. I've also seen some good ones that came from the area between Martindale and Lockhart, south of hwy 142. The Kingsbury area is pretty good, too. If I lived closer to that area, I'd try to get a lease in that area but I don't think many landowners lease around there.

Wow both are unique and very cool deer up The Carrizo Springs deer has a lot of character that needed to be culled.
In an AR county, we would have to let that one walk hammer
