I know this question is kind of relentless. But...has anybody had any luck in east Texas so far? Personally, I haven't gone out to hunt yet, so I just thought I'd ask.

The season opened today, so I reckon it's good you haven't hunted yet.

As of 2 weeks ago, I saw a group of 4 gobblers still running together, then another group of 2 toms, 4 jakes and a dozen or so hens. Gobbling in morning was sporadic. I talked to my uncle last night, and he commented that they are gobbling steady now in the morning and that he has seen several hens by themselves trading across fields. I'm off to KS in a few days, then back here to Texas and see if I can harvest a tom.

Would love to see any pics of turkeys from East TX.
TPWD released 80 just down from my place not long ago. I am tickled. Saw a flock of 8-10 right outside my gate on Thanksgiving day last year. So looking forward to the day I can hunt them.

I killed a nice 22 pounder yesterday. Tried to upload the pic from my phone but it's not working out. Will do it when I get back to civilization.Trying to stock up on some croppie and catfish before we head back out to work on my buddies bird.

A Texas Eastern is one of the greatest prizes in hunting IMO. I mean it. Way to go guys!

That is a very good question? As far as I know, East TX turkeys are hard to come by. Hopefully the new stocking programs will rejuvenate the population and provide hunting opportunities for the future.

Last year, there were a couple of outfitters offering East Texas easterns here, but haven't seen any advertising this year.

I have seen them twice at my place. They were running like spotted apes both times.
