Was at my ranch last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and decided to set the hog trap starting Wednesday night. Trap produced 7 on Thursday, 5 on Friday and 16 on Saturday. Add in the ones some friends shot hunting, we ended up with 32 confirmed kills over the 3 days, with 2 others mortally wounded but were unable to find. A picture of the group Saturday is shown below.

JR It's a custom built spring loaded gate. We use a trip wire on the opposite side of the trap that trips when one of the bigger hogs pushes it. This trap has been in for about 18 months and has trapped over 100 pigs and it is set only when we are out there. Here's a pic of the gate during trap construction.

Interesting fence material. Any story there? We bought the original wire from the local lumber yard in San Saba. As I recall, it's like 36" tall. What we found after it was initially finished was the larger hogs were going over it when trapped, so we added the 4" mesh wire I had laying around as an extension to the top to make it now about 4' total height. Unfortunately, very small pigs can still get through the wire when pressed (like when you start shooting them), so we watch carefully and shoot the small ones first as they try to get through the wire.

You sir have a serious hog issue Yes sir, I do. And this follows a private Heli-hog hunt 3 weeks before in which my ranch was included in the hunt!

Unfortunately, very small pigs can still get through the wire when pressed (like when you start shooting them), so we watch carefully and shoot the small ones first as they try to get through the wire. If you used hog panel, they wouldn't get through... Like the door though...

Yeah, I tried to get the hog panels, but nobody in San Saba carried it at the time, and in fact, may still not.
