I bought a "custom" bolt knob. Its a little longer and heavier than I like. It there a way to cut half inch or so off and with what tool? I really don't have tools other than sockets and screwdrivers etc. A hacksaw or sawzall would leave it to rough.
Option A - Cut it or find someone to cut it
Option B - Sell it and get a different one.

Depends on what material it's made of. If it's steel you'll have to get it reblued or coated afterward if it's aluminum you'll have to get it anodized or coated afterward. I'd save all the trouble and just buy a different one and sell that one.

I bought theses off eBay for $40 for the pair and installed myself. They're aluminum so not very heavy at all. Idk which one you have but don't think there's anyway it'll be to your liking after cutting it down....
No doubt about the AR crap, just damn shame hunters don't have self control and knowledge

Ya ill probably sell it and get another. I thought it would be a cool look to cut it down but to make it right it would require to much hand finishing etc.

Sell it and buy a new one. Or bring it to me and I'll put it in the lathe. You bring the beer.

You might try a dermal tool with the large abrasive cutting wheel.

Dremel tools are certainly the tool for the job. Or any job for that matter.

I wouldn't touch it with a dremel tool, take it to someone with a lathe.

Dremel tools are certainly the tool for the job. Or any job for that matter. i did a ton of "custom" work on a paintball gun in highschool with dads dremel. i thought it looked amazing... i think back now, and good lord....

Hacksaw. Just use a fine fine tooth blade. Simpler than cutting and crowning a rifle barrel. Cold blue it and you are good to go. You will be the only one who knows it has been altered.
