So.. I am trying to be more tactically minded, I suppose. I have found myself being more aware of things, and I have noticed that I either wear square-toed western boots or crocs ( I wear them offshore so the habit carries over), and I realized if the SHTF and I have to move or hit the woods, I am in trouble. So I want a hiking/walking type boot/shoe that I can wear daily.. I have looked at Merrell's and a couple other types.. just wondering what you guys wear?

I got some Under Armour boots that were really comfortable when I tried them on. They are light and flexible. No breaking in. Got them at Cabela's. $149 I think.

Red Wing Irish Setter Hunt VaprTrek 2863. I LOVE these boots. Mine are not, but they also make an insulated model. There are several color options, I think.

You pay more for Red Wing, but dang they are worth it.

Schnees hunting boots are awesome. Worn them from Texas to Canada on many a hunting trip. Will not wear another hunting boot

Went back to work for a month after laying around since quail season.
After a week of misery, I decided my old Red Wing Pecos slip-ons had to be replaced. Went to Academy and found Wolverine Potomac steel toes that were plenty wide enough for my old overstressed, splayed out feet. These six inch high laceup steel toes kept me comfortable for the remainder of the job, and seemed to turn water quite well. I don't know why they wouldn't work as bird shooters just as well. About $85 bucks. The safety man on the job kept asking me if I was really wearing steel toes.

P.S.They look good enough to wear afterwork or the hunt as well. Gonna be my new knockarounds.

For hiking I really like Merrels, they are very comfortable. For work I wear Danner Acadias, sometimes for 12-16 hours a day and they hold up well and are not bad to wear, but are heavy. I also have a pair of Schnees for when it is cold and they are awesome for trekking around in elk country with light snow.
