I know this isn't a particularly sexy caliber or anything close to some of the funky stuff you guys shoot, but you are my fountain of knowledge when it comes to firearms.
So.. I am looking for some carry ammo for my G19, and I am curious what you guys shoot. I currently have 124gr Hydra-Shoks in it.. but wanted to look around and find something else too.. just for kicks.
Also, I have heard that the +p and +p+ ammo is sometimes too much pressure for a Glock.. any input on this?

Hornady Critical Defense is tops in my book.

I know this isn't a particularly sexy caliber or anything close to some of the funky stuff you guys shoot, but you are my fountain of knowledge when it comes to firearms. 9mm is a very popular caliber, probably the most popular pistol caliber. Some good options would be Hornady Critical Defense & Speer Gold Dot.

Nothing wrong with the 3 mentioned so far IMO. Hydra Shocks, Hornady Critical Defense and Gold Dots are all good choices. Use one your gun functions 100% of the time with.

All those mentioned are great rounds. I am partial to the Gold Dot and HST though. Don't over look the PDX1 either. Always am impressed by the PDX1 no matter what caliber I test it in.

Oh I know it is a popular caliber, that was my attempt at levity I suppose.. It's not a 6.5x47 Lapua or anything..
I actually have a G20 that I was going to carry and I purchased the G19 to plink with and such. But then I actually fell in love with it so now the 20 is a house gun, and the G19 got a Vanek trigger and Meprolight sights and has become my baby.. I even call her Patricia...
I guess I just want to try everything and see what she likes best. Also.. thanks for the replies.

HCD in my P95 for defense (home built for plinking and target). Tried PDX1 in .22WMR and hated it from a rifle but that's apples/oranges.
Pass the gravy.

I use the Federal defense ammo, but the important thing is whatever works in your gun.
I Gold Dot may look sexy expanded but if it won't cycle what good is it?

+1 to tenyearsgone. Shoot what you practice a LOT with. If you practice all the time with Winchester white box, carry that. You do not want the last thought in your head before you pull the trigger to be "will this work?' IMO speed, accuracy and confidence trumps a bullet expanding from .355 to .550. I do practice what I preach. Daughter's house and truck guns (too young for CC)are S&W .357, loaded with light .38 wadcutters. It is what she is comfortable with. I carry the same out of an old Colt because I shoot them a lot. Like Mom's biscuit recipe. Gets better and easier each time. Why try changing it when company is coming? Of course if you can afford to practice with the above, everything I typed is irrelevant, and I applaud your success in life that you can afford such.

I would bet that of all the rounds mentioned that there isn't enough difference between any of them to matter. They are all proven in lab testing and do the job. You didn't mention what gun. A 1911 style may jam on all of them. Sorry, couldn't resist that one. Any of the popular polymer guns should digest any of them. I forgot which gun, but one particular popular polymer gun seemed to hiccup once in a while on the 147 grain rounds. But that is the only issue I remember. Some people even alternate HPs with FMJs. If I were to do that I would go with Buffalo Bore on the FMJs. Those babies smoke vs. the "practice" rounds from the big three popular manufacturers.

Speer Gold Dot and Winchester Ranger T series are both good.
