A large bull moose can be 7 feet tall or more at the shoulder. One year we had a bad accident at moose camp - one of the guys actually shot a large bull moose 5 miles from the nearest road. Moose camp is supposed to be a week of fun with the guys and all animals taken are to be calves or small cows - them bulls are too much work.

Love hunting in the north. Have been lucky enough to get Elk, Caribou and Moose. Best tasting in my opinion is Elk, Moose and Caribou in that order. My wife says Elk, Caribou and Moose. Really enjoyed the thread. It brought back great memories.

Bout halfway to camp I said "this feels like a sack of concrete". Bill said "I bet it does weigh 80 pounds." Then he asked of I wanted to trade him the pack he had with a boned shoulder in it. No way man, this is my bull, it's my job to haul most of the weight. Hardest work I've ever done on a hunt, bar none. Wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

The first two pics were pre-hauling up the mountian. This one is about a half mile in. I wanted that off my shoulders! Pete's just hauling a boned hind quarter, he's still feeling good.

Just shoot an bull elk about 4 miles from the truck in the bottom of a drainage and you will see how big they really are! Trust me

I cut the last one in half with a WY saw and we drug halves bc I wasn't making any more trips! My mulie last year got gutted and packed out whole. I had front half over my shoulder, buddy had back half over his shoulder. I puked. And almost past out. But beat the storm and made back to tx in time for my flight to Mexico. Best thing about killing elk at my ranch. Flat bed and hydraulic hay lift. Our cabin in Pagosa had a couple three day pack outs. No fun

That's right! I wasn't thinking clearly. I was just putting one foot in front of the other. And repeating in my head, don't stop, don't stop. Bill made us stop for a breather and water. My azz was whooped by the time we got to camp. 1030 in the morning we had a victory beer or three!

Its been too long since I had a good morning victory beer.
Our old landowner we leased from was in her late 80's, but if you drug a deer up to the skinning pole at 7:30 am about 10 or 15 min later she would stumble her way down there with 2 cold hi lifes one for her and one for you sit on the old tractor seat chair and keep you company. Miss them days.

This is the way I'd prefer, but only lucked out a few times getting a cowboy that wasn't busy taking cattle out of the high country.

Yeah. Bill had buds nearby, with two horses all week. They headed home three hours before I shot my bull
