What is the best State Parks to visit in Texas? I plan on visiting several of them in my Travel trailer and would like an idea of the top ten. I have been to Both parks on Ray Bob.

I don't have a lot of experience but Inks lake State Park was always one of our favorites during the summer. fishing, miles of hiking trails, swimming, cliff diving at Devil's Waterhole. Short drive to various other points of interest (Longhorn Cavern, Enchanted Rock, etc.)

If you like rough and wild go to Devils River del Norte unit. Rugged and beautiful.

South llano river state park in Junction is a probably my favorite. The river is crystal clear and usually maintains a good flow when other area rivers drop off. The fishing can be fantastic, especially if you have access to a canoe or kayak and can paddle upstream from the low-water crossing and portage a few of the riffles/small rapids. Not uncommon to catch 50+ fish in half a day, I've done it multiple times with my fly-rod. Tons of guadalupe bass, smaller than largemouth, but great fighters on light tackle. Park also has a beautiful pecan bottom, miles of hiking trails in the rugged hills away from the river and some great birdwatching. I was a summer intern there a few years back and in my opinion it's a first class state park.

We did Lost Maples last year in the summer. It must be pretty in the fall when the leaves turn. and of course Big Bend.

A lot of "top 10" depends on what you enjoy...don't fish much so lake parks are not on "my" list. I enjoy rugged nature, hiking, and history...

http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/

I also suggest you buy the annual pass...

Some of my favorite (alphabetical order)...

Balmorhea
Battleship Texas
Big Bend Ranch
Caprock Canyons
Davis Mountains
Enchanted Rock
Garner
Goliad
Hueco Tanks
Monahans Sandhills
Palo Duro Canyon
Lost Maples
Washington-on-the-Brazos

There are other good ones...if you are up for a good hike go to Guadalupe Peak then swing over to Carlsbad Caverns while you are there.

Most of them are nice places. Caddo Lake State Park is one of my favorites. Possum Kingdom State Park is great also. I have been to Daingerfield State Park a thousand times, it's ok for being close.

Caddo is awesome, probably the best that I have been to.
I spent a lot of time at the Huntsville State Park when I was there in school. Fishing can be great. Those big pines offer plenty of shade.

A lot of parks are closed due to the spring flooding.

A little known jewel is Town Bluff - sometimes called Dam B. There are both Corps Engineers and TPWD parks there.

Huntsville State Park with Lake Raven is just a really pretty area.....fishing is good enough to keep you interested (at times pretty good) and the folks there are really helpful

Inks Lake and Bob Sandlin are two on our favorites list.
