Not a died-in-the-wool gobbler gunner by any means. However, I've killed my fair share with a scatter gun.
Didn't do an actual "set up" this morning, just saw them from the house and worked around the barns, calling. Stopped calling when I had him on a string. I was in thick, big oaks. Got him to 10 yards, I bs you not. Just didn't know what side of the tree he'd stick his head out on. Gun up, safety off, right level. Just wasn't quick enough when those eyes came 'round. He broke into the "oh crap" trot. I laughed. Can't win 'em all.
