http://ar15hunter.com/the-6-5-grendel-ar15-my-go-to-gun-for-hogs-and-predators/The editor of AR15Hunter.com, an online magazine, asked me to put together a summary article of what I like about the 6.5 Grendel and it turned into a bit of a historical narrative on how I became a fan. There are a lot of fine hunting calibers. I just happen to be a huge fan of the Grendel. I hope y'all will find it of interest.

Enjoyed the information. I've been in the final stages of a Grendel and had actually decided on the exact same upper and barrel combo that you chose and for many of the same reasons you described. I'm looking forward to getting it all together and putting it through it's paces. I'm glad to hear that you are having good success with the Hornady ammo. I can certainly reload for the round but in the beginning I'm looking to go with factory offerings.

Well, I just got informed that Precision Firearms makes ammo and apparently they have a pretty good selection. To be honest, of the 4 Grendel people I know personally, I don't think any of us knew about it.
Here is the link...http://www.precisionfirearms.com/17.html
So 10ring, you might like to check out this ammo as well, but yes, the Hornady SST does very well.

Great article and very well written. Now what I need you to do is shot another pig and make sure the video doesn't cutoff prior to the kill shot.

Yep, I love my "FrankenGrendel". Killed 2 hogs with it. Very accurate and terminal performance is outstanding.

There is a company in Dripping Springs called Underground Tactical. They make some great components for the 6.5 grendel.

Really like the Grendel, good write up on it. Agree with you that cannot really tell the difference if a critter was shot with a 308 or a Grendel. At least critters in the average pig, yote and deer sized game. If hunting something bigger then I will grab a bigger gun.

Great article. I ordered a 20 inch barrel with bolt carrier from Shillen and hopefully will get it by the end of this month and build mine.

Which brass catcher are you using? I've tried the hard plastic versions(too noisy) and the basic bag style(leaves a lot to be desired).
One big reason I went to 7.62x39 was due to loss of expensive, effort consuming G brass in the woods.

Is there any reason I'd want one if I already have a 6.8?

I am using a Tactical Brass Recovery brass catcher. It is outstanding...expensive, but outstanding. I never take it off except to clean the gun. It folds up for carry on your rifle in your range bag.
Would you want a 6.5 if you have a 6.8? For typical short range hunting less than 200 yards, no. If you hunt longer distances, the 6.5 is definitely superior via a better BC, energy, and just shoots flatter.
