Does anyone know how the thunder chickens are acting in the San Saba county area?

Going tomorrow for a long weekend hunt...will try to post up while I'm out there. 10 days ago when I was out at my ranch, the gobblers were already strutting big time around the hens in the breeding areas.

Hunted just outside of San Saba from Friday til Monday. Friday the birds were silent. Myself and another group of hunters heard exactly one bird all morning/day. Saturday was better, I heard 3 birds total. Nothing was responding and the few I did see were henned up.
Sunday they were still with hens but by 9:30-10 they were bachelors again. Called in 2 3-year old birds and hammered one at 31 paces. I had to sneak within 75 yards of them on their strutting field and managed to get two of the three birds that were strutting to come in.
This fellow had a beard 10" and 1" spurs.

Pay it forward - Kids are the future.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.
