Booked a NV hog hunt with Band of Brothers outfitters I found on the forum for my son's 14th birthday. We came away happy! First let me say it was probably the worst weather I have been in trying to hunt with thermal equipment, mid-high 90% humidity, dense fog with on and off rain. Visibility through the thermals was like we had the lens covers on, and visibility with lights through the fog was always less than 100 yards. When we did see animals, which we saw plenty of deer skunks, raccoons and rabbits, they were difficult to distinguish if they were small animals close or big animals at distance due to the inability to distinguish any surrounding structures. It was not the best hunting conditions to find animals to say the least. However, Rick did a great job of moving us around and trying to find the hogs. We did eventually run into a sounder of them and we put the stalk on. After moving in the mud and getting as close as we could we lined up for the shot and we fired. The hogs disappeared very quickly into the fog, but not until we had two hogs on the ground, my son hit twice with his first shot sending a hog running away (tough little suckers) but he connected a second time on a runner. Unfortunately, those were the only hogs we would get a shot opportunity on. We did see another small group of hogs but they were not on a property we could hunt. We did put the stalk on s couple coyotes earlier in the night, but they crashed into some thick woods after we shot them and we never saw them again. I highly recommend Band of Brothers Outfitters for your hunts! They have lots of available hunting property and work hard to get you in position to make the shot! Rick, sorry about all the mud on and in the mule, those conditions really were not ideal but you got the job done!

It may have been tough hunting, but it will be a time to remember. And, things will probably go more smoothly in the future, eh?
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Bob- Thank you for the kind words!
Had a great time/hunt in the worst all around weather you could have while thermal hunting, he is not kidding when he says it was like looking in the thermal with the lense cover on,there where times we couldn't even see the road it was so bad, but we pushed thru and kept after them till we got on em. These two men are shooters and not new to this game, we got on them and they put them down, ( Curtis took his out on the run ) was worth every second of getting wet, not being able too see and all the mud !
Really enjoyed meeting the both of you and hope to hunt with y'all again !
looking forward to no more mud and rain!! Then I can complain about the heat and dust LOL !!

We never give up -- I guided a hunt with the same conditions for 6 airforce guys last month -- they ended up getting a few shots each and left with a couple coolers full of hog meat!!
One thing about us -- your going to tap out long before we do!!
Haha!!
