April is Autism awareness month. I post pictures of him here every year. This is my little man. He truly dances to the beat of his own bagpiper, but that just makes him, to quote Roger Creager, "bigger and badder than John Wayne and cooler than Steve Earl!!!"
The CDC reports that 1 in 68 children are on the autism spectrum. The number is bigger in boys. 1 in 42 boys is affected. I don't know if there is or will ever be a cure. My wish is that the world be ready for the shift in our children. My son walks and talks and sings and dances and runs and plays like most children. However, he lacks the ability to know when it's appropriate to be quiet or when to not comment on the multicolored hammer pants and flip flops someone wore to the grocery store. I ask that this would be remembered when a child does or says something inappropriate in public. I never gave it a second thought before, but I recognize it plainly now.
This is Colten...My Superman!!! He's 7 this year. I love him with every fiber in my body and will do my best to raise and protect him and his brother and sister with all I have, until my final breath!!
Music is his thing. I don't know where it came from, but he has it. I came home last week and found him in his room doing this. Notice in the vid that his drum set is set up and on, just behind where he was sitting. It's just that, for this song, the firetruck made just the right sound, in his opinion. So, why use anyting else? Oh, and he does have shorts on.http://vid220.photobucket.com/albums/dd2...zpsorlvxxgg.mp4
