I was going for coyotes Saturday and spotted a group of hogs on my friends property in the back field. Took this one with one shot using a CMMG AR10 with Berger VLD 155gr. Wish I remembers to bring a magazine. I had only one shot. Good thing it dropped in it's tracks. I had to get some assistance dragging it out the field as I did not want to hurt my back. I've been recovering great since the surgery I had in December. Needless to say there was some fresh pork on the menu for Easter dinner today!!

Congrats on the hog. I remember the day I hurt my back like it was yesterday. I wished I could take that moment back but I cant. Ive dealt with extreme back pain for 10 years. It will change your whole life. When we go grocery shopping in one of those huge wal marts, I normally end up in the automotive waiting section in the back sitting down on one of the stores only benches. Concrete kills my back. there is so many other disabilities that back pain puts you through, but Im sure you've dealt with all of them too. Good luck, Ive never has surgery.

Nice going. I had shoulder surgery early last year, and I have a few other issues that affect my endurance, so I bought a hand truck (two-wheeled dolly) to help haul hogs out of pastures. I just lay it down next to a hog, maneuver the hog onto the dolly with its' head down, and then tie a rope around the hog just ahead of the hind legs. I tie the rope to the top handle of the dolly and away I go. If I'm alone, I just lean the dolly against the tail gate of the truck, then climb up and haul the dolly up onto the tail gate. I put a foot on the dolly to hold it, and then drag the hog off the dolly and onto the tail gate. Ramps would be better, but I don't want to be carrying too much stuff around with me while I'm hunting.

I let this go for 15 years and it just got worse as time passed. The good news is I found some great doctors that were not knife happy. Lots of conservative therapy before I went under the knife. And here I am 3.5 months later and I am feeling great with no back, hip or knee pain. All fixed with correcting my back. Hope you can get help as I did. It did cost me a bunch but how much is it worth to be without pain... Priceless IMO

I'm surprised no one commented on the drink (Bourbon) on the ATV... I was holding that celebratory toast off till I got this all cut up and in the cooler!!

I may have to bite the bullet and go under the knife one day. I still play sports and a bad back can trip you up and its not even on the ground. Try to explain the error you made because you just cut off a nerve in your back or a disc pops and they just look at you like your crazy. Then I say, for real.

FYI.. I made 36 lbs of fresh kielbasi from part of this hog..
