Is there any good place (public hunting or otherwise not hundreds of dollars for a lease) to go duck hunting where I can use a dog?
Anywhere within 1-2 hours is great. Anything at all would be helpful. Ive heard good things about Caddo/LBJ Grasslands. What say you?
Thanks gents!

Im not asking someone to give up their hole. Im asking about Parks in general. I don't need coordinates, just wondering if anyone knows WMA's or lakes that aren't over hunted...
Back east when new comers come around we treat them with respect and put them in the best place to hunt. All Im asking is some tips on parks to go to.

Now is a good time to get out and go look at the places you mentioned, you have better luck looking for yourself than searching the Internet.

PM me. I'll give you the lay of the land and talk in general about the places I know about. I received the same cold shoulder when I arrived. Pay no mind, the folk on this site are OK people. Overall, anyone I have run into from Texas have been great to deal with.

I endorse your words with slight correction...Peoples in Texas are excellent.. On the forum they, are not different either...permit a little leg pulling. .

I love Texas, lived here for the 8 or 9 years. Before that it was NC, and NY. Both too far left for me.

Hahaha, I was born there but I got the hell out. My relatives are still there. I've grown up in the south though, I haven't "lived" in NY since I was 2 years old. Its been North Carolina, and then Texas. But yes, the hunting culture is different here.
Especially leases. I never thought I'd see a guy shell out $4000 to shoot a damn deer. For that I could buy a round trip ticket, a new gun, equipment, and lodging/food for an exotic hunt on any public location in America.

It's tough to crack into a group of guys near DFW, I know from experience. You are, however, blessed with public water. Despite the massive amounts of people in North Texas, the public water up there is no where near as crowded as it is south of Waco. You can't drive anywhere up there without running into another 30 thousand acre lake with public hunting opportunities.
Go to the forum index and find the public hunting forum for ideas of where to start.

First post stuck to the top of this forum. Just click on the links in that post and look around. It's all there in one place for you and any other new hunter. The only way I could make it easier was if I organised it as a lake or county list rather than by controlling authority and that ain't happening.

Thanks gents! I'd go to both the places you mentioned. I heard they were killing limits of mallards daily.
