Got to my popup just before daylight. At 7am some axis and whitetail wandered by and I watched them (one axis was pretty nice and I thought may come in). Decided to hold off on the call until 7:30a because of the axis.
At 7:30 I gave a few chirps on the skate call. At 7:38 a group of 10-12 turkey, including at least two toms, came casually walking up the road behind me to my decoy on their way to a feeder 60 yards further away. The second Tom that walked by at 6ft was decent and BOOM my hunt was over at 7:45. Did try at a second gobbler that stopped about 50yards away and kept looking back - I figured with 3" 12ga turkey loads and an extra-full and turkey chokes on the O/U I might have a chance at s double, but that was pushing it.
Tagged and bagged by 8am and headed back to Dallas. It was too easy this morning. Lol.
