Did a search, but didn't see anything here.

A friend shoots a 6.8 in an AR setup.
He has been saving his brass and wants me to load it.
He is not a hunter or bench/target shooter.
Just likes plinking on the farm with it.

He likes the 110/gr V-Max that he has been buying, so I'll just plan on loading those.

Will be throwing powder with a Charge Master, so metering won't be an issue.

Any Powder suggestions?

Thanks!

AA2200 is the BIG CAT DADDY of powders for the 6.8SPC. IMR-8208 works well with the heavier bullets. IMR-4198 and H-322 give good accuracy but do not turn up the velocity of others.

Alliant 10x. Mine likes 27.3 grains with 110 v max. I couldn't find any AA2200 on the shelves.

Maybe Today.

Anything from about #65 to about #90 would work. Since he's just plinking, I would use one of the faster burning powders for a light powder charge and not very fast speeds. R7 or 4198 would be ideal.

Mine likes H322 pushing a 110 Vmax, 1/2" to 3/4" at a 100 yards through the can.

HHUUMMMM, what to write, what to write, I got nothing.

Just shot a .276 group at 100 yards this afternoon with 30 grains of 8208 XBR behind a 115 Nosler. COAL is 2.260.

First question is what chamber do you have SPCI or SPCII?
If you are running a SPCII or 6.8x43 you can shoot the good stuff!

I only hunt pigs so this is what works for me, YMMV.
4198 performed poorly cycling the action in all the 6.8s I have shot or been around.
RL10x has been the most accurate and cleanest powder pushing 95gr TTSX and 120gr SSTs.
AA2200 with some of Harrisons loads in his ARP barrels make amazing speed with 85gr TSX, 95gr TTSX and 120gr SSTs but the powder leaves behind lots of black soot on the rifle - wipes right off but makes my NIB BCGs turn black after a session.
That being said, a 85gr TSX pushed by a liberal dose of AA2200 shoots flat lazerbeams.
I primarily use 120gr Hornady SSTs pushed by AA2200 now but have plenty of RL10X and AA2200.

What AA2200 load works for you? I'm not having any luck with it.

Disclaimer: Use this data at your own risk.
They work in my rifles at the load listed, start lower and work up.

Using new Remington brass, large rifle magnum primers, full length sized, trimmed/checked each time and light crimp:
85gr TSX - 33gr AA2200 - 2.280 OAL - MOA and long range lazer beam
95gr TTSX - 30gr AA2200 - 2.290 OAL - MOA and deadly at 100 yards
120gr SST - 27.2gr AA2200 - 2.280 OAL - Sub MOA all day

The 120gr SST is my goto pig bullet for day or night hunting.
The only bullet that has been more accurate in my 6.8 is the 110gr AMax and using RL10X powder

I've been really happy with 1200-R. Mine likes 29 gr with 95 gr TTSX.

I used WC 844 (H335) pull down powder in mine and I had consistent .75" groups at 100 using a 110 grain Sierra pro hunter. 29 grains was the best.

The handload I've been using (115 grain w/ 8208) was great on a javelina the other weekend. The bthp bullet passed right through and caused a good size wound.
