Ammo depot off of I30 close to Caddo mills. I don't like talking bad about people but selling guns at that store,,,,, well you could do better. Was lied to and will never go back.

I sold a 30 06 there. The guy told me my rifle wasn't worth much because nobody buys pumps. It was a 30-06 pump deer rifle. I needed money bad so I sold it cheap. I went back to see if they still had it to buy back. I'm not mad because it sold. I'm upset because all the guys in there told me it was a good rifle and they don't last long. Well which is it? Seems to me it was about the bucks. All good. Learned a lesson

You should've just put it in the classifieds here?

bummer, man--I guess that's just the way it goes. You can be impatient and trade/sell a gun to a gunstore for about 60-80% of the true value of the gun (they're going to want to make a minimum of 20% on it, and more than likely 30-50%, otherwise it's not worth their time) or you can deal w/ the tirekickers online. Either way, there are pros and cons. I wouldn't blame the store for doing what they do, but now consider yourself better educated?

Either way, sorry you had to sell a gun--THAT'S the real tragedy here!

So you're mad because a buyer told you that your gun wasn't worth much and it would be tough to sell (after you'd already listed it and had trouble selling it). And a seller told you that the same gun had already sold because it was a nice rifle? Honest question: was it the same salesman that told you that? Or two different people?

I have bought all my guns in Ammo Depot since moving to this area except for my most recent one (which was a distributor exclusive at Dick's). I don't care too much for some of the new salesman that work there, but Colt and Mickey have always been very fair to me.

I realize they need to make money. But point is the one that bought it said it wasn't a great seller. But when I went back there were 4 guys and they said those pumps sell quick. Sounds to me the guy played me. All I'm saying. And I only got $160.00 for it so I'd bet they made easy money. Guess when your to hard up and get low balled probably should just keep it hush hush lol

Lesson = NEVER sell a gun to a gun store. They are not your friend; they are there to make money.

It would have been the same story, regardless of what dealer you sold to. They buy low and sell high.

If you were talking to one of the newer salesman, I can't say that I'm too surprised. I don't really like them very much either. It was a much better place to shop 5-6 years ago when it was just Colt and Mickey basically running the place.

You sold it for $160, but you were asking $550 on here. Why not lower the price in the classifieds? You would have definitely got more than $160.

I didn't realize that. If they paid $160, they probably put a $350 price tag on it and sold it immediately. They doubled their money overnight, someone else got a good deal on a rifle, and you were the only one left out in the cold. Why didn't you list it for $250 or $300 on here instead of $550?

Guns listed cheaply on the THF sell in absolutely no time.

I agree the $550 price would have disuaded most from making an offer. It's a $350-$400 gun. Most would not make an offer because when there is that much disparaty the seller may take offense. What works for me is I always try to start my price at what I think is already low or reasonable and I reduce it each day as needed until it's gone.

As for Ammo Depot - like any gunshop they are there to make money. Due to his location I've only been there twice but I was a regular at the old location in Mesquite 20 odd years ago. Mickey was good people then and I got many a good and fair deal from him. I doubt he's changed over the years other than get older like me smile
