Took this nice gobbler 2 hours after arriving on the ranch we hunt in Junction last Wednesday. He was about 20 lbs and had an 11 inch beard. During the rest of our hunt I called in birds for the first timers and we had 3 birds harvested, 2 birds missed and a couple of beard hunters passed up on birds sporting 8 - 9 inch beards looking for paint brushes and double beards. Still had a lot of birds gobbling when we left. There are still a few openings on April 22nd - 25th if anyone's still looking.

Albert Lynch has been a Game Warden and avid deer hunter for 20 + years and didn't seriously get into turkey hunting until three years ago. Last Thursday 2 big strutters came in following a flock of about 20 hens that I had called in about 20 minutes before and Albert sealed the deal and finally took his first tom. It weighed about 20 lbs and had an 11.5 inch beard.

Bill Crowell of Crowell Custom Calls took his first turkey years ago and it just happened to be a triple beard. Last Friday he took his 70th turkey that weighed 21.7 lbs, and it just so happened to be a double beard ...one 10.5 and the other 7 inches. As always we had a awesome hunt, great food and fellowship, and we also managed to trap 3 nice hogs and had a bbq feast on Friday evening.

Thanks Barney... Now I'm looking to get to east Texas in a couple of weeks and work on another eastern.... I was hoping to have my Eastern after I got my Osceola before I came back to TX. It didn't happen. I figure a Rio won't be that difficult. If I can knock out an Eastern in SE OK or East Texas I'm going to head to NE to try to complete my slam in one year.

While in Junction the birds where responding pretty well to calls but there were still quite a few hens most were running with. I called up the hens and the gobblers came following
