After my daughter's soccer game Saturday, we decided to head out to the lake house for a short get-a-way. My niece plays on my daughter's soccer team, so we loaded her up too. Just me and three kiddos...needless to say, it was not a quiet, peaceful drive
We tried a little perch fishing to start it off, but I guess they haven't moved up to the docks yet. Can't remember the last time that we couldn't catch perch off the dock. The girls gave up pretty quick and started making a "home" for the night crawlers in a bucket with mud and water, but little man wasn't so easy to quit. His pole finally started bobbing and he started hollering. I went over to help him out and found out he needed a little more help than I expected...His first "real" fish. The catch was enough to get the poles back in the girls hands
The boat sitting in the water was more enticing than the slow fishing, so they took a vote that it was time for a boat ride before dinner and they could continue fishing after the trip...
As the night set in, so did the excitement of the day. The little ones went in and I set in for some night fishing. Overall, we ended up with 21 keeper crappie, 3 catfish and threw back 14.
