just unhooked the limefuel ext. power supply, 12 hrs constant on and only down to 60%, for the money this thing is gonna be great.
the digital power level is nice to have and it glows green for a few seconds then the light goes away.
I recommend it.

Ok so it looks like they just have to get the audio added back and get the viewing screen brightness/ clarity cleaned up some and all should be good....they have come a long ways in the few months.

I've been doing some internet searching, and found these devices on Amazon. RipaFireŽ 12000mah Waterproof Solar Charger Portable Power BankThey're pretty affordable, seems rugged and water resistant "enough" (for the price), plus a built-in solar panel to recharge with when you're way out in the bush. If you search for "waterproof solar external battery" on amazon, you can see dozens of "brands" with what looks like the same device from the same OEM mfg. Many are only 5k or 8k mAh. They vary pretty widely in price, the one I linked above seems like one of the better prices vs the capacity. I'm still open to ideas before I drop any $ on one. Criteria I'm looking for: - Solar panel built in. - Rugged/Waterproof "Enough" (example: I have a Galaxy S5 Active smartphone) - At least 10k mAh capacity. - Mountable or easily carried in the field. I can store up to 4 AA or 6 CR123's inside my rifle's stock. I'd really like to free up that space for spare CR123's since the X-sight's included IR illuminator seems to eat them pretty hungrily.

MoShootr, Stop messing around. Spend that coin on a T-20, instead of CR123 batteries and ditch the ATN Illuminator too. I got burned once going out and finding that it ate the only CR batteries I had. Luckily I was using my thermal scope as a spotter and the night wasn't a total loss.

MO do you know if that one can be recharged via wall charger also! I like the idea of solar but don't want to be limited to it.

MO do you know if that one can be recharged via wall charger also! I like the idea of solar but don't want to be limited to it. Beaubien - Yes, it has a Micro USB input connector that you can use to charge the unit using any micro-usb compatible adapter. The solar panel just provides additional options for charging. The advert claims it can charge the battery fully in 7-8 hrs of sunlight, for whatever that's worth. I've been looking for one that has rubberized covers on the ports, which most of the competing units don't seem to have. It doesn't do any good to have a good case, if water and other crap gets into the ports. If anyone finds a better deal, I'm definitely interested. shoots100 - As for the factory Illuminator - Yep, I plan to replace it, when the $$ becomes available, but that won't be for a while. Simply put, I'm looking for a CCW piece right now, to celebrate Missouri's change to better CCW laws, pre-empting statewide Open Carry for anyone with a CCW license. 'Cause I don't want to go cheap with it, probably looking at a Walther P99C AS... and that's going to take up a good chunk of this year's "bang budget". The vast majority of my shooting will be daytime, so my IR needs are pretty modest for the time being, which puts a better IR lower on the priority list. I can get by with the factory IR for now, and just drop in some CR123's when it's really needed. Now a battery pack I can pair up with my new smartphone AND my X-sight at the same time, that's something I can justify. A solar panel will let me stay untethered longer, and save on the cost of batteries. That's a win on many fronts - assuming it works decently.

I'm guessing you guys are just using standard cables instead of making custom ones, which port takes power? They mini USB? Is the other just a video port or used for something else? Sure would be nice to have a limit of each

Sure would be nice to have a limit of each use the mini usb, closest to the battery cap. I got the limefuel pack I posted and so far it is great, recharges the rechargeable batteries and has a bunch of power left to run the scope. great deal for 30$. it is a little on the large side and I use a 6' cable and just keep the limefuel in a pocket (gonna figure out a pouch for the stock soon).

David, correct...use the micro USB...it's a standard USB to micro USB cable. The other nice thing is the you can charge your phone, MP3, etc. from it... Here is my Limefuel with the weather resistant pouch mounted on a weapon. It is a bit large and heavy. It has 20,000 mah, might try something smaller with a bit less power. I need to know a source for the grommet folks are using...

No problem, glad to help. Thought it was agood solution as you get two of the bullet style powerpacks so you can stick one in your pocket. Got them myself after seeing it. Powerpack just fractionally under one inch diameter. I am going to stick it to the weaver cut out on my torch mount with a right angle 1" weaver mount. Should look neat.

I got a 6' usb so I can put my limefuel in a pocket or pack, much easier and keeps it out of the way. I found a 6' with the 90 micro usb and with the grommet it is working great.

I picked up one of the 4000mah battery packs from walmart. I ordered a shorter 90 degree cable for mounting lower profile and also some 24mm rubber plugs, will see how that works. One thing that happened, I had 4 AA Engergizer Lithium Ultra's in the unit while running the external battery pack, for some reason it killed two of those batteries, can we only run with rechargeables in the scope?
