I had the pleasure of taking out a good client of mines grand kids earlier this week on there first hunt ever.
They have practiced long range shooting for the past couple years including taking several courses and wow
these boys could shoot! They were definitely ready and the first morning of the hunt I spotted a nice ram up a steep
cut that after a quick stalk gave us the slip so we backed out hurried around the other side to find him hiding up under
a steep over hang. Range was 572yds and Mitchell (first shooter) got into position and laid the hammer down on him smoking
the ram in his tracks. It was a tough recovery but a beautiful old ram scoring just over 29" and over 14" bases- not bad
for his first hunt!

2nd up was Jacob and the afternoon hunt was called early after a tiring morning. 2nd morning out we got on some ewes and younger
rams but with 2 full days left we pulled out to find one bigger. Evening time we went back into a remote area (just me and Jacob)
while the rest hung back to do some glassing. 45 minutes till dark I spotted the backs of a few aoudad feeding just under 2 miles away,
when the first one picked up his head I told Jake we needed to go after him and do it quick- hes a good one I said.

We high tailed it over there through the cat claw patches and shin daggers and once we were near the area I last saw them
we snuck up over the rise and I caught something out of the corner of my eye and there was a small ram 40 yards away up on a ledge looking
at us! I though we were blown but he went back to feeding and we slowly moved up and I could just see the tops of several rams backs a stones
throw away. We stood up to make a move and at that time this big old ram came walking right to us and we were both in the wide open, thanks
to the wind being right and the sun at our back this big boy turned broad side and Jake rested on my shoulder and boom! Perfect heart shot
and the ram died 10 paces away. The rest of the herd ran up the ledge looking back (about 25 total) and there was 2 more big rams in that group
about this size if not bigger. I was tempted to take one myself but we had a lot of work to do and make it back to the truck. One day...

Jakes ram went just over 31". These 2 boys were very polite and respectful and definitely earned these rams. I think they are hooked.

Congrats guys.

Thank you! That first one was not taken too far from that stand you set up for me a few years back Lazyman.
