OK guys have a weird one here. I have a customer looking for a crossover stock for a short action bolt rifle. He had several made by some company that went out of business. I found one guy willing to do a trace on his old stock but talking big money. Anyone know anybody that makes a stock like this synthetic or wood. Basically he is right handed but left eye dominant as his right eye is gone. Shoulder it like a right hander but looking through your left eye. Pretty unique.

Here is a pic he sent me.

It looks like there was a lot of hours invested in that stock.

Teach him how to shoot left hand, left eye. It's easier to swap hands than it is to swap eyes.

Try asking on Accurate Reloading. I've seen the issue discussed there repeatedly.

^^ That's the first thing I thought of also.

Is the butt of the stock out of alignment with the barrel? It looks as if the butt is to the side of the line of the barrel.

Well it is a crossover stock. A stock bent from boreline is considered cast-on or cast-off. Most of your higher end guns will have some degree of cast.

As for making new ones I'd just have that one duplicated. Shouldnt be more than $250-$500. Plus cost of finishing out. Concerning cost, it's a pretty custom feature and pay to play. pm if you want leads.

I "talked" to a guy last year or so that was setting up stock "duplication" bidnizz on 24HCF just south of the new Denver Airport.

I never followed up with him when the real serious &^%$ hit the fan on my DinL's medical issues - I've got a piece of 90+ year old maple that I wanted cut for M70 SA Fwt, but he needed an uncheckered M70 stock for a pattern to do it, and an uncut piece of wood. The piece of maple I inherited had been given to a family member who's 9th grade wood shop teacher tried to show the then 13 year old kid how to HAND FILE the beautimous piece of flame leaf maple into a rifle stock...words fail me.

Anyway, I'd look at 24HCF and see if Mule Deer aka John Barsness can remember who the guy was, or has any other ideas.

"Back in the Day", I stumbled into a mid'50's era commercial FN 400 Series Mauser in 243 that looked like the pics above. Good ol Dr Charlie Leinwebber in Harper, was gonna charge me $80 to remove the wrong sided rollover and straighten the cast off back to square to look like a Ruger 77 stock & refinish the stock, taking about 6 months to do the work...I gave him a $100 dollar bill, thanked him and walked out as he went to get some change...and made sure he never had a SAKO back ordered. When the Mauser dry fired with the side safety in the ON position one day, I sold it PDQ. Nobody ever said I was a "smart" trader. FWIW the CAST OFF/CAST ON thing can be a PIA.

I'll dig thru my 'CF Message file and see if I can find a contact for the guy in Denver...but I doubt it's there anymore.

$2200 is fair for a uncheckered stock.

BLAST SHIELD UP

I'll make my own for $2200. Or maybe I'll get one eye transplanted to the other eye hole.

Pass the gravy.
