When shooting from the bench with a bipod.

Do y'all prefer the rectangular sandbags you squeeze or the rabbit ear leather ones?

Just shooting 100 yards at local ranges.

Rectangular bags is what I prefer. I had Weibad custom make me 3 bags filled with playground sand. The bags are similar to these below. They are all 3 different shapes for different heights of rifles. But either will work.

I actually ordered two Wiebad bags today, loop bag and mini tac-pad.

Just curious about the rabbit ear bags to cover all the bases.

Empty shot bags filled with well-washed sand works for me. I have some Caldwell shooting bags that I use more often than not. I have used bipods off and on, but can't say that I really like them that much. In the field, my backpack and even my hat have done a good job for me. Once I used a handful of moss packed into the crotch of a small tree.

Kind regards, charlesb

It's a good idea to get used to shooting without any paraphernalia, as situations do arise where you must shoot that way in the field.

Kind regards, charlesb

Monopods are fine if you have all the time in the world to adjust it. A guy that came through my class had one on the rifle in the morning. I told him to decide when he wants to try a rear bag instead. He used the monopod for about ten shots, went to the rear bag, and never put the monopod back on the rifle the rest of the day.

Never used a bag went right to the Monopod for bench shooting @ 200 yards once I get it locked down It's good with slight turns. But I'm going to give that bag a try and see how it does.

Thanks!

I can understand how it would work in a static situation. On my range, for instance, the targets are every hundred to 800 and in a relaxed "Z" pattern. Once you go from on target to the next, slight elevation changes are needed to the butt of the stock to get on target.

None. Range has always been 800 yards long.

The monopods are only good for fixed position shooting. Plus, they are VERY slow to set up. A good sand bag is much faster and just as stable. Plus, monopods get in the way of a rear bag when used properly. I'm not a fan of monopods.
