I would like to find a deer lease in Texas, for myself and 5 other hunters. I've never done this before. I have been doing some reading on what to ask the land owners and such.
We have our budget determined, and what our expectations are.
I have noticed there are web sites that you can join, for a fee. That is OK, if that is the best way to conduct a search. I wouldn't mind if someone recommended a good website to search for a deer lease.
I have called a couple of Chamber of Commerce offices for a couple of cities, but never got a response. I get the impression this is one way to waste a lot of time.
If anyone can provide some general information about this, I would be grateful.

Thanks All

I think leasehunter.com is probably the best of the pay sites. Actually you don't have to pay to just view their lease listings, but you do have to pay to view the contact info for a lease if you're interested in it. Craigslist also will have some leases on it. And of course, folks will list leases on this forum.

However you search, you've got to check for new listings often and be able to act quickly to go visit the property and pay the deposit because the good leases get filled pretty fast. Good luck.

What rattler said.

Have cash in hand from your guys, & a pretty firm agreement between y'all as to what you want. Check every site every day. Be ready to go look at a possible lease immediately. Groups that don't have cash ready, or know what they want, or can't come look at a possible lease for a week or 2, generally don't get a lease.

Good luck.

Go into the feed stores in local areas you might want to hunt. They'll know the landowners and might have some inside info on anything that available. Word of mouth is by far the best way to find a lease IMO. The good leases never make it to a website for the most part.
