I shot my first pig with a bow when I was 18. He was a big Hampshire boar that was running with a pack of true ferals. They terrorized yards on a stretch of beach between Aransas Pass and Ingleside, Tx. Ripped out flower beds, cut up dogs, tore up lawns.....I finally got the green light to shoot one after months of practicing with my bow. It was 100 degrees when I shot him, heat of the day. He charged me and I got scratched up pretty good by the briars when I blew out of there after the shot Loading him in the back of my 4X4 Chevy Luv is another story. I was hooked for life after that day. Let's see your first pig pics.....

We don't have any feral pigs up here so I finally got a chance to hunt pigs for the first time this past spring break on a road trip to with my youngest son. These were both taken a week ago today. Son's: Mine:

It took me all night to get him butchered, wrapped & in the freezer. Had just enough time to take a shower and get to work on time. The next day I bought an upright Brinkman smoker and that next weekend I smoked a whole ham on it, (had to cut it down quite a bit to fit it in). Smoked it for 12 hrs and it was amazing. I took ham sandwiches with me to work for a long time.

No pics of mine. I was 17 sitting up in a Hays County live oak in a home made 2x4 tree stand after school one day. Group of pigs came in about 45 mins before sunset and I picked out a good ~150lb solid black sow and let her have it with the .30-30 I was carrying. She ate good.

Sorry but it was only an old nasty hog so I did not take a pic of the first one I ever killed. I probably trapped it also.

I can't swear this is my first, but it was in my first couple. Definitely the first worth remembering. I grew up in a non-hunting family, didn't really start until college when buddies at A&M showed me the light. Got a small lease near Buffalo, TX that was loaded with hogs, but I had the absolute worst luck ever seeing them. 5 of us would be out there hunting and 4 people would come back with dead pigs, but I just never saw one. Hunting at a buddy's place in S. Texas before first light, and I see this fellow's silhouette in the darkness by the feeder. No question whatsoever it was a monster pig, and we had "kill all" orders on pigs from the landowner. Aimed at the base of the neck with a 7mag, pulled the trigger, rolled the sucker. Then he got up and hauled into the brush. Could see small trees jolting as he just smashed through everything. Never found the bullet hole, wound sealed right up and no exit wound. No blood either, but he only made it 50 yards or so. 296 live weight. Would have won "heaviest hog" that year at Los Cazadores.

Ive got a picture but not with me, shot two little bores about 50 lbs whole. They were the only tow there and came in right under the feeder. I shot the first one that stopped the second ran 10 yards stopped looked around and came right back to the feeder and I shot him too.
It's hell eatin em live

Shot a few javalinas in South TX when I was just a youngster (14, 15 or 16 yrs old) Don't have any pics of them when shot but still have the mount of the "better" one of the bunch. I didn't kill my first feral hog until I was about 21 or so (I'm 41 now), it was in East Texas, but I can't tell you the details or I would have to kill you. I have a pic somewhere but I haven't scanned it, so no way to post it. But it was the best pork I have eaten to date.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I'm honestly trying to remember my first hog as well, remember my first deer like it was yesterday, but I was 12 or 13 prob. You shoot 1000 of them buggers they start to get blurry. I know I camped out at our lease for two weeks when I was 18 by myself and killed 143, between runnin 3 traps and the rifle. But that's sad to say I really can't remember the first one I shot. I remember the first one I walked up to dead with my dad that he shot but I can't pinpoint my first

Took me nearly 6 months to finally get this guy. He usually ran with a buddy but came alone. I got his buddy a few months later.

After watching my daughter shoot pigs for years, I finally got my first pig 12 years ago near Yancy, Texas. I had a full moon and I stayed all night. Got him at 3:00am with just a regular scope on a .223. Probably about 80 pounds. No picture, I fed him to the buzzards.

I know, I almost felt bad for about 2 minutes, then I was back at the cabin and went to sleep.
