Guys,

Do you clean your brass before you resize/deprime it or after you resize it?

Thanks,

Mel

Before. I soak brass in a bucket of acetone to remove the lube if necessary.

If you do not clean the brass before you size, you will scratch the die, which will scratch every single case after that.

Good words of wisdom from a man that does it for a living! I do it to have them cleaned and see imperfections and insure identity before going further, bad eyes and nothing bugs me like having a 10mm in the bunch of 40s&w.

Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock!

I've always cleaned first but never cleaned after that...

What do you use...how long the first time and how long the second?

Start to finish how many days does it cover between the first cleaning and complete bullet?

I am not quite sure what your question is. I typically tumble my brass 4-7hrs. After the brass is clean it takes me around 60-90 minutes per 100 to prep and load rifle ammunition with a single stage press and weighing each powder charge. I load all of my pistol ammo on a Dillon 550B progressive at a rate of 400-500 rounds per hour.

I only reload for bolt action rifles. I just clean the brass with some steel wool, I don't know if this is bad or not but I haven't had any problems. I don't own a tumbler, might buy one when I start reloading more ammo.

Wow...I am slow!

I clean my brass over night, then I resize, bump the shoulder, clean the primer pocket, prime and then I charge them and then seat the bullet. Generally I do anywhere from 100-400 rounds over 3-4 days and spend an 1-2 hours a day.

I clean brass first right after going to the range. I prefer the brass to be clean before decapping. I don't want to scratch or get the dies dirty. I currently only reload 44 magnum, 44 special, 357 magnum, and 38 special. I prefer the brass to be cleaned as the first step. I can use a primer pocket tool on a nasty primer pocket.

I decap mine before the first tumble, but I use a universal decapping die.
