Looking at getting either a NXS 5.5x22, 8x32 or the ATACR. Of these three which would you recommend? Scope will be used for target shooting and the occasional competition. Also this will be going on the new 6.5x47 when its done.

Not 8X on the low end, and I would get the first focal plane model.

I have 4 of the 5.5-22 NF models. It's my favorite scope. I prefer SFP, but that's a personal preference. The ATACR scope has great features, but I do not like the reticles available for it.

Can't go wrong with either, I'm buying an NSX shortly as soon as I get closer to finishing up a rebarrel on a .308. Just mounted an SHV on a .280AI, but haven't shot it yet. Very impressed with the glass, quality, and when you hold one, you just feel like your holding something that is indestructible!

Was really interested on everyone's opinion if the ATACR was really worth the extra coin over the NXS.

I just picked up a 4-14 SHV that I haven't mounted yet but the glass is very clear and crisp. I am thinking about trading up to the 5-20 or a NXS I just would like something with a little more power. I went with the MOAR reticle and really like it a lot.

The best reticle, IMO, is the MLR (with mil turrets). It's a mil reticle with .5 mil hash marks, instead of the round circles. But NF is discontinuing the MLR. I also have an MOA scope with the NP-R1 reticle. This is the best MOA reticle, IMO. I have the MOA scope on my 300WM right now. I can run both MOA or MILS just as effective as the other. Mils is faster for speed of dialing and ease of wind calling when shooting in comps. But for hunting sake, tomato tomoto. If I were a new shooter, I would go mils, since it is easier to learn.
I don't like the newer cross hairs of the NF scopes for 2 reasons. There is a large distance from the center to the first hash mark (1 mil). I use the hash marks close to the center for shot corrections and such. And, there is a void where the line disappears where I would want a hash mark for reference.

The ATACR has better glass than the NXS line but not sure if that and the added adjustment travel is worth the price.

Looking at the ATACR for my next rifle build. The price is going to sting.
