Iron clay cowpeas and lablab popped up last two days with 1.5" of rain Thursday through yesterday afternoon. Planted two weeks ago, we had a 3" rain a few days after, then a couple or three hard freezes. The milo hasn't popped up at all. I found milo just outside the disced area, the hulls were split open with no meat inside. This was milo that didn't get covered with dirt.
Wondering if the milo made it through the freezes, or if it had weavils and they ate it all up.
Any farmers out there who know more about milo, weavils, milo and freeze tolerance?

Was it seed milo or just a sack of feed milo? If you planted in to cold of ground your seeds might not be up yet. If you planted the milo to deep it might not come out of the ground also. If you are in the Hill Country it is probably to early to plant the Cow Peas and Lab Lab also. IME if you plant when ground is to cold or nights still to cold it will come up but not grow very fast till the temps get warm enough.

Feed milo, it's what I've been using for several years. Always had good results.
That is until last year when I slung milo that was in a shed in bags for many
months. This year I picked it up a week prior to spreading it. The ground was
definately colder than prior years.
