So I scored a $2200 BRO FALLOUT 10 at a pawnshop for 2/3 of the price. The previous owner thought he was an expert painter and put on a really tacky "shiny dark earth" paint job on it. Awful, had it fitted with a basic tasco scope. Anyways, This is turning into a project rebuild. I'm trying to get the paint off the rail with my Dremel, seems like it's gonna be a little more painful than I thought. Suggestions?

Get a bottle of "Goofoff" that stuff is amazing at getting paint off. Just spray it and let it set and it will come off. Are you planning on repainting it? One thing to understand is the aluminum that the rail is made out of has tiny chasms that the paint goes into and no amount of elbow grease or work on your part will get it out. That rail will forever have a slight FDE tint to it, you'll never get it back to the anodized black finish. You might as well buy another rail and save yourself some time if that is what you're trying to achieve. However, if you're planning on painting it again get some Goofoff and put on it let it set for about 30 mins and you'll be able to wash the clumped up paint off of it.

A Dremel? You must like hard work. Why not just use turpentine or paint thinner? Or sand/media blast it off?

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

I ended up buying a new rail system for it because the one I was working on was ruined. Then I sent it off for Cerakote.

Way more money than I wanted to invest.

It will be awesome when I get it back.
