Again for the record they are a game animal which requires processing the meat and they have a season and bag limit!

Where in his post did it say he did not eat them? He said "Not much for eating".

Where in mine did I say he didn't eat them? scratch It was alluded to when he grouped them with coyotes and possum. boxing

Crawfishing now also? He said "don't eat well" in his post. Is this what he was alluding to?
You then got on your high horse and started spouting off game laws that he already knows.

I didn't realize passthru had a sidekick. LOL. Never was much of a swimmer and I didn't backstroke anywhere. I'll stand by what I stated earlier. After a few waste of game tickets it becomes a state jail felony. Hope most realize this before they start whackin and stackin javies and letting them lay. I'll proceed to finding a shorter horse now.

I apologize for causing a debate using a poor choice for comparison.

My real point in the post was first to reject the use of the word "harvest" by hunters. We need to take ownership of the fact that what we do is killing. It's not picking apples or combining soy beans. We should never slough off that responsibility nor should we hide from it.

The second point was to make the understanding that many people hunt animals they don't intend to eat. Rich people shoot elephants in Africa. They have no intent to eat the animal but it is in fact utilized by the local peoples. The same with Javelina. I have no intent to eat one. I hunt them solely for the enjoyment of the hunt. However, as I stated before, I know folks who gladly take them.

Again my apologies for not giving good clarification on my statement and using a poor choice of comparisons between a game animal and varmints.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

^^^ This.

Don't know that they're better, but they can be just as good. Skin them immediately and be careful not to let the gland in the middle of their backs leak on any meat. Just like hogs, the older they get the gnarlier the meat gets, it's not gonna poison you, but the younger the better!

Guess you can lump me in with these too. Properly cleaned and cooked and they have been good to me. I brined and smoked some cuts out of the hind legs on the first one I shot, my dad didn't believe me at first that it was really javalina.

El Paso and Hudspeth counties have tons of Javelina!

Lived in El Paso for 35 years and I have NEVER seen a javi. I'm sure they around in small pockets but tons...no sir. Hudspeth has a good population again in certain areas and I've hunted them a few times in that county but they're not in huge numbers although you can find nice concentrations of them.

Javelina eat just fine if cared for properly and in a timely manner.

Then your looking in the wrong place and at the wrong times. I'll give you this maybe not "tons" but certainly not rare or absent as the map shows. Should most likely be green on the map at least outside of the metro area.
