This property here is in Savoy, TX. The red line is the Oklahoma border. Can you hunt all the way to the river? Or so would you need a Oklahoma license? Thank you for any input.

The entire river bed is considered to be Oklahoma. Your Texas hunting license is only valid until you reach the red line.

Who owns the property? I doubt the property line to the land you hunt goes past the state line, if it doesn't you would be trespassing.

Property owner said you can go to the river, but I think he is wrong. Once your in OK, it ain't nobody in Texas's problem. Haha.

I'm afraid an OK Game Warden wouldn't agree with the property owner. Expensive lease if you have to buy an out of state license to hunt one section.

You could probably call the GW for that county and ask.

State line (red) is as far as you can legally hunt in TEXAS.

Looks pretty small and open. Hope your getting it cheap.

Not my place. Two of my buddies hunt here. I have 5,000 acres in Archer County. I won't hunt this place because I know that sand bar is in Oklahoma. I am just trying to get some hard facts to show them so they don't get in trouble.

The 1999 Red River Compact sets the Texas boundary line as the south bank and specifically the vegetation line along the bank. It is still in disagreement because of shifts, cutoffs, and meanders which could redraw the boundaries again. Play it safe by saying, once you leave the vegetation line and step out on the river bank and flats/sandbars, you are in Oklahoma.

You mean, is there an OKLAHOMA game warden on here you could ask? Probably not.

Bottom line is that Texas laws don't apply to OK and vice versa. It does not matter how the property is owned.

That's an easy one. Red line=BAD. I wouldnt shoot to close either cause they won't be able to recover if it goes across

What are you hunting?

On private lands, you do not need a hunting license, except during firearms big game seasons (muzzleloader, all deer gun seasons and elk season), hunters must possess a filled or unfilled deer or elk license appropriate for that current season unless exempt. On public land, you will need a hunting license and during the regular firearms deer seasons (muzzleloader, all deer gun seasons and elk season) on WMAs open during these seasons, you must possess either a filled or unfilled deer license appropriate for those seasons. This applies for non residents as well...

You also cannot hunt hogs at night in OK without being approved by GW or actually getting a LO depredation permit... its one of the other I know it has to be approved though.

Why don't you just buy a Non resident license in OK and be good to go?

No. This is not my hunting ground. Just trying to do my research before I go out there with them. He said he talked to the OK game warden and he said to shoot as many hogs as you want. I don't know if I believe him.

The rancher may be right. He may own the property to the river or have access to it. You have to have the license to hunt it though.

Well, since you are the one who might get a citation, I would ask for the name and number of the given warden and verify with the warden that such hunting would be okay.

I don't know that it has been stated, but if you are going to hunt at night OK has very different laws on that.
