So, if an establishment has a 30.06 sign displayed, could you now carry into that establishment if you were to open carry? The 30.06 sign is for concealed firearm only. I wonder how this issue might be handled?

The sign prohibits the Concealed Carry of a handgun on that property not the open carry.

I would think if open carry passes the 30.06 law will be changed.

Only if you have a valid inspection sticker, license plate light, front plate, and signal 100 ' before turning then it will be ok.

But what if someone is videoing the incident from 22.7 feet away??

They are just going to create a new sign 30.07 for open carry.

Nah, a new 06.50 sign since it's all the rage now.

That would sure be nice if I could just pull my shirt over and reveal my pistol handle, open carry and legal.

Ask the people in Austin. I wonder what a sponsor of the Bill would think if he had an email of this thread roll across his desk?

I don't think anything will change. My guess is they will re write the 30.06 rule to include open carry. They don't want you to have a gun in certain establishments for a reason, regardless of it's visible or not. That's just my guess.

And I'm sure the idiots have already thought of s way to handle this, albeit a new numbered sign or re writing the current law. They may be a bunch of babbling idiots, but I'm sure with all of them together they will figure it out

Now hold on a second, really think politicians are thinking ahead on virtually anything other than how to get reelected? Nah, suspect it will take a court case or 30.06 locations to start screaming about open carry issues before they go, oh damn, guess we better address this.

I bet that's right.

Just add two words and a comma. The concealed, or open carrying of a handgun is prohibited.

Right now both House and Senate Bill have the same 30.07 clause for Open Carry. From the way it is written a separate 30.07 sign will be required.

Senate Bill (SB 346)
Sec. 30.07 Trespass by license holder with an openly carried handgun. (Page 30)

House Bill (HB 910)
Sec. 30.07 Trespass by license holder with an openly carried handgun. (Page 30)
http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/84R/billtext/pdf/HB00910I.pdf#navpanes=0

Yup just read through the bills too, he is right, they have created a new 30.07 for trespass with open carry.

We'll be able to carry in far fewer places when its said and done, and the parking lots of said places will probably become hotbeds for gun theft from automobiles and other crimes.

My thoughts exactly! Concealed firearms are out of sight, out of mind. I believe there are many businesses that just don't realize how many guns walk through their doors every day. When those firearms are visible, I believe they will be much more likely to ban firearms. Case and point...I noticed in my travels to OK, they seem to have more businesses banning firearms than we do here in TX. They have open carry in OK.

And we will have the open carry crowd to thank for it.

This is exactly what I'm worried about.
